Steve won't have the disease, this is just a plot device to expose the double pregnancy.

It'd be interesting if they did go down the route of one of the children having the condition (and possibly dying from it). It'd give this story a bit more substance to it and could end up being, dare I say it, good

Christ almighty what the hell ate the writers doing?

They're so excited about their fantastic 'Steve gets two women pregnant' SL they can't wait to reveal all. They probably think we can't either.

Yeah hopefully it's Leanne's and that will let him off the hook there Really though I wouldn't put anything past Corrie, using the possibility of this illness just to do a tacky revelation is truly sick

I could have guessed something like this would happen

And what's the betting Leanne's baby has it and Miss Hell's baby is fine. Because Leanne will have to come clean if it is a genetic disorder.

It is one big plot device but it could be a good storyline if the writing, execution and acting are right.

Ugh great more of Nick's sulking which resembles a squashed raisin. Liz squaking and acting like baby Mcbattersby is the child of God. Steve's gurning and trying to hide his worries from MissHell. This sl is so shit, just another reason for people to say how MissHell is too good for Steve.

I think it's quite a good storyline even though it will obviously expose the father of Leanne's baby.

What I hope is that Steve does not have the gene and therefore his children will not have it.

What about his almost teenage daughter Amy, have they forgotten this storyline would involve her too?

That's the difference between the soaps - Eastenders adds and changes the past, Corrie ignores it. Not sure which one is worse

What about Amy then?? Do you get it from birth or can it just show up in later life?? Also does this mean she could carry the gene? If both babies come out fine I'll be annoyed as it would be more realistic if at least one of them had it. Plus we've not seen it in a soap before have we? In children I mean? Wonder how he finds out about it..

And we haven't seen it in Jim McDonald either.

It'll be genetic there is 1/4 chance of steve's offspring having the disease if it's homozygous recessive gene in which case Leanne has to be a carrier as well and 1/2 chance if it is heterozygous dominant on steve's genetics, assuming it's the latter because it's known it's runs in Jim's family which means Amy will have a 50% off having the disease or the other 50% chance of her just being a carrier of the disease (If that makes any sense!)

Tbh it's a plot device, because it certaintly wasn't mentioned when Amy was born 12/13 years ago.

I'm sorry but this just looks like a horribly contrived storyline to me, which with any other character than Steve might just be made to work but for me his 'serious' acting has become a joke in recent years & a storyline like this needs to be done seriously!!

I found the whole Leanne/Steve shag*ing once & her getting pregnant, despite being practically told she never would, far fetched & daft to start with given they've barely communicated in 15 years but it now appears it is going to get even more far fetched & dafter!!

It's certainly a plot device - isn't everything - but tbf, as I understand it from the spoilers, Jim has only just found out he's got it or carries it or whatever and phones Steve. It's not something anybody is routinely tested for, so I assume Jim must have started showing symptoms.

Here, I've written the script so you don't have to watch it.

Steve and Michelle are having a happy conversation of smiles and plans. Steve's mobile rings. He goes 'into the back' to answer it.
When he comes back, his face is at gurn level 7. He tells Michelle his dad has got Plottus Contrivius, a genetic storyline disorder, and Michelle's perfectly perfect makeuped face drops and she looks all concerned.
--- End of Monday's 1st Episode --
At the start of ep 2, Michelle has nipped to the corner shop for a bag of crisps even though they sell them in the Rovers. She bumps into Leanne who is buying a sandwich even though she works in a bistro. Leanne asks her how she is and perfect Michelle starts to sob.
They go back to Leanne's for a brew and Michelle reveals all. Leanne looks shocked with an overtone of angry.
--- Wait for Wednesday's exciting episode!! --

This story line will be so stupid if he has this condition he would of started showing symptoms years ago also there is Amy she too would have symptoms plus there is his mother and father also his twin brother one of them would have the condition or be a carrier that would of known about the generic traits for there children so NO in short this storyline is bollocks
