I know there is a feeling that there are way too many "axe Sean" threads but watching tonight's Corrie I honestly don't think there can be enough - the character is panto at best, absolutely one dimensional with no emotion or depth. Antony Cotton might just about manage to get the emphasis on the right words but beyond that there is nothing.

Imagine that heartbreak in the hands of the actors who play/played David, Kylie, Carla, Leanne, Peter, any actor over the years ... but it's absolutely dire and to think he's getting paid what most of us would only dream of to fail time after time to deliver in his job.

Sometimes he must think his name is Sean Valsean. Hounded all his life for just being unpopular. He's lucky he didn't steal anything or we'd really take care of business.

Personally I think he usually does pretty well in serious scenes and I genuinely felt his pain in the scene with Billy in the Rovers last night. He's certainly far better than quite a few others in the current cast who don't get a tenth of the obsessively repetitive bile and vitriol that Anthony and Sean get on here.

Of course he can be a bit of an irritating twerp when he's overacting the mincing about and pulling silly faces, but I think he's fine in serious scenes.

I don't often say this about Anthony C's acting but I thought he was excellent last night in that scene in the Rover's!! If anything it was Billy who was being the irritating tw*t last night!!
a) He spent best part of a year with Sean, one of the most transparent characters in the Street & should have been able to tell almost straight away that Sean wasn't lying!! Says nothing for his 'people skills' as a vicar!!
b) A man in his position should have more decorum than going into someone's place of work shouting the odds & being abusive!!
c) The 'evidence' against Sean was purely circumstancial based on a second hand story from Eva, the most notoriously air headed bimbo on the Street!!
d) He's a vicar employed by the Church ffs, he knows their rules, as unfair & biased as they may or may not be & should remember the house where he is breaking those rules is only his anyway because he is an employee of the Church!!

Neither can Craig, Kirky, Sophie, Dev, Mrs Nazir etc but I never see them get the vitriol that Sean gets.

The character is always described as 'one-dimensional'...........so is Norris, Mary, Dev, Ken, Kirk, Liz etc. and many more.

Sean has been badly treated by his 'boyfriends' in the past and is entitled to feel bitter.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was Todd who told the Bishop it's the sort of twisted manipulative thing he would do in an attempt to make Billy choose him or the church.

I've seen plenty of comments about how horrendous Fizz and the likes are. The difference being they are currently and thankfully not being overly used.

Sean and Tracey luv however are constantly on screen.

Maybe if Sean was considered better looking he would be popular.

I think vicar Billy would choose anyone over his church, it would really put him to the test if the same were asked about his shirts.

Mind you the thought of having to spend the rest of your life with Todd would be enough to make anyone choose religion instead.

Anthony cotton's so called acting has always been a dreadful tribute act to John Inman. But people have never had the guts to ask for a permanent curtain call.

But would like to add there are actors just as bad, if not worse than Sir Cotton though. Ben Price and the actor who plays Craig spring to mind. And Shayne ward lacks any charisma or screen presence, but Sir Cotton does.

Considering the short time that Shayne Ward has been acting, I think that he is doing very well, plus he is very attractive, which I admit does help.

No, because Shayne has always come across as a warm, genuine guy, from when we first saw him in X Factor.

Yep that's exactly how it works some people don't care how well any of them can act as long as they look good or have a great physique/body of course if they get called out on that they will deny it.

Looks are a bonus i suppose. But only get you so far.

Anthony Cotton is not the best actor but he's not the worst either. I think for the most part he's been good in the break up story, the only time I thought he did a bad job was when he was crying over the breakup when it first happened.

He's woeful but is one of those on a 'job for life despite not deserving it' contract.

Ah yes Carla, the one who had about two facial expressions and did the same material over and over yet is hailed as some brilliant actress.

I don't know why it bums you so much how much he is getting paid, it isn't like you are paying his wages.

Nothing at all. I am surprised they haven't cited the manipulated reality show "I'm a Celebrity" where he was apparently not being nice, and has still hurt the feelings of some on here four years on. I don't know why anyone expects all actors to be 'nice', they are just like anyone else.
