The aim is to spice things up by sticking in some nutty talentless acts but I think many are getting tired of the format now. Where people really do take themselves seriously, it's cruel imo.
Oh and they need to quit with the surprised judges. it's clear from the questions they ask beforehand that they at least have the back story and have possibly already seen the performance anyway.

I would be interested to know how it works
How many of those wanabees milling around get seen and by whom?
Is it a case of pre auditioned/selected acts which then perform for the judges?
