June Brown has signed to Jan 2017, she is 90 in February.

Will she sign on for another year until January 2018?

As much as I enjoy Dot on screen, I think the actress needs to bow out & retire with grace.

She did say that was her last contract when she signed and that she didn't want to die on set.

I think Tina is safe now that she is back with Shirley. Donna is fine as a background character on the market...who knows she may find love.

I think that Carmel is on her way out and that may be the end of the axings for now. Don't forget we have panto season coming up.

Great thread Vas and I agree with your theories. I cannot wait to hear the news about Cora and I hope she is returning soon and I want her to defend Abi. Cora and Babe hate each other

I hope we haven't got any more axings and I look forward to finding out about the new castings. I think Tina and Vincent are in danger of the axe. Tina could be dispensable if the rumours about Shirley and Phil is true. I don't see the point of Vincent and I think Kim is better off without him. I would like Kim and Denise living together again and they always made a great duo act, I also believe I hope O'Connor brings in the third Kazemi son, Darius and I heard Bonnie L said there are talks about introducing him to the show. I know it's an unpopular opinion but I bloody love Carmel and she cracks me up. Bonnie is still a huge signing in EastEnders and I will be disappointed if Carmel leaves EastEnders. I love her friendship with Denise and she's a harmless character, in my opinion. I enjoy Kush's brotherly relationship with Shakil but I would like to see some adult conversation between Kush and Darius because he's supposed to be the eldest brother. The Kazemis have potential to be a great family especially Carmel as the matriarch.

I don't think so, I think this will be her final year

Cora is a question mark as we have heard nothing concrete and children don't count as main regular cast as they are limited to the hours they can work hence why Louise is played by an adult.

I think so. She is a pointless character....just a pathetic woman desperate to land herself a man, any man.

Here's hoping. She is a very irritating character.

I don't think Carmel is leaving. She is Kush and Shakil's mother and she has spoken to producers about the third son. Bonnie L is a huge celebrity actress and the character of Carmel is harmless, in my opinion. She has a believable fantastic friendship with Denise and is related to Kush and Shakil

I really hope Carmel leaves, she's an irritating man-obsessed little harridan.

Where's Vincent on the list? He hasn't been announced as leaving has he?

I only really care about my beautiful Lauren, Jay, Louise, Ben, Stacey, and Martin. Everyone else can sod off for all I care.

J-B, Lauren has barely made an impact since she returned, I wonder what SOC has planned for her.

Carmel is fab but Shakil needs to go - he is awful.

What is it about Shakil you dislike so much, Vas? Genuinely curious as I don't get the hate for him on here.

You don't think he plays an immature teenage boy convincingly? Having taught boys like him for a number of years I'd say he's spot on. And when he's given the chance to show a bit more vulnerability, like the scene with Martin where he talked about his father, he's actually pretty believable IMO.

I think he gets an incredibly rough ride on here, personally.

So do I. He is a likable young lad and he works well with Bex, and as you say Martin.

Carmel on the other hand offers nothing. I hope she's gone even if they do bring another brother in.

I like him and think he is a believable portrayal of a teenage boy. Granted his birthday episode wasn't the best, but I liked the scene where he got Bex a cookie when Sonia said goodbye, it was incredibly sweet of him.

Completely with you Elly, and I don't get the bile that is spilled on the forum about him either.

What I don't understand about Dot is why she is still working at the launderette? Dot is 80. If Mr Papadopoulos wants to reorganise to become a dry cleaner's, why would he go through the hassle of Dot applying for her own job? Hire better qualified people and don't try retraining an octogenarian
