EE Fans don't know what they want!
I don't think EE fans know what they want.
'Bring in new characters' - 6 months later - 'I hate this character axe them' 'Bring back Grant (insert other classic character name)' - 6 months later - 'They've ruined this character, they should never have brought them back' 'This character is woefully underused, give them a storyline' - 6 months later - 'This character is overused, I'm bored of them, give other characters a chance' 'This storyline was over way to quickly, we need a big dramatic long running storyline' - 6 months later - 'This storyline is dragging on too long, wrap it up' RINSE AND REPEAT Its the same cycle of moaning every single time |

Plus the general consensus at the moment is that we want something to look forward too, something more positive than all the departures.

Ok, i'll admit, i do do a bit of moaning about Eastenders from time to time, but i don't go along with you about not knowing what i want from the show. I know exactly what i want from Eastenders, i want some balance and for it to feel more natural, it's something we haven't had for some time now.
I wish there was some stability in Eastenders, the last few years has been a bit all over the place for me. Far fetched story lines, characters coming and going, too many wooden actors / actresses coming in, story lines stop starting, the pacing being all off. It's all a bit much and i find it hard to fully focus on it. There is no stability, it needs to calm down a bit. Emmerdale is the only other soap i watch so it's the only soap i can compare it to and it comes across like Emmerdale is so much more under control. The characters fit in nicely, the story lines move at decent pace, characters blend in better, story lines aren't left behind for months and picked back up again out of the blue, characters aren't coming and going, the actors and actresses aren't wooden, there is a balance between realism and over the top drama. The best thing about it for me is how natural it feels, i don't feel like what i am seeing is being forced. You can see the good chemistry with the cast, they seem to naturally bounce off each other. With Eastenders, you get the feeling that everything is forced and unnatural, i don't feel like what i am seeing is people living their day to day lives like you do with Emmerdale. I feel like i am watching characters put through one crazy situation after the next just for the sake of drama. It's needs to be more than that, you need to actually see the characters living their lives. I think the most extreme examples of this of late has been characters like Sharon and Ian, it just seem's to be never ending drama with them, there is no cool down period. Pretty much the whole cast is like this and i think it's just little too much. I also feel that most of the time, you can tell that the actors and actresses are acting, most of the time the conversations don't sound like a natural conversation. I think this is why Emmerdale has been picking up so many awards in recent times and receiving so much praise, they just have a much better balance and natural feel than the rest. I still really enjoy Eastenders, but i think it could learn a lot from how Emmerdale has been in the last few years. |

I know what I want. I've seen the show in a stronger position and it's not nice for any fan to see how awful one of their favourite shows can get, when they've witnessed it 10x better.
I want to see new characters, but I want interesting ones and NOT too many at once. DTC was all about tokenism when it came to casting and he brought in way too many characters at once in the 2014/2015 period and as a result none of them settled in properly. I'd rather they write some decent material for the long serving and dedicated cast first. |

The EastEnders producers are unbelievably lazy and uncreative. Somehow I doubt that would change even if the axed 90% of the cast There is very little to look forward too if these past few months are anything
