Thanks. If it only cuts through the family's smugness for a while it will be worth it. I still can't understand a system that allows the original judge to decide whether someone can appeal the sentencing.

Thanks. If it only cuts through the family's smugness for a while it will be worth it. I still can't understand how it was right that it was Masipa who dealt with the State request to appeal. Should the original judge be allowed to decide whether someone can appeal the sentence handed down by that judge?
Should have gone to an independent judge or panel imo.
Unfortunately that's the way the justice system works in SA........the mind boggles!

Bit of an oxymoron as far as I am concerned.

The timing of this announcement is beautiful, given that the Paralympics are still on.

This time four years ago, OP was all over the media for the right reasons. How times change...

Up to a point. This was also when he showed himself up as a bad loser, throwing tantrums and crying it wasn't fair.

I know, I was going to put those words in inverted commas, but I didn't want to 'disrespect' their stupid system!

I suppose Nel has always got God to try if he fails here.

I hope the warders have altered his TV so that's the only thing he can watch.

This is true. I would love to have been a fly on the (cell) wall when Liam Malone broke OP's 200 metre world record!

I'd be a teeny bit more generous and let him watch anti gun lobby promo videos too.

Actually Nel is not trying anything ‘here’

But that said Pistorius thinks that God is ‘on his side’ judging by the amount of time he spends praying to Him.

However, the way things are going it seems God is not too enamoured with Pistorius either. Must have something to do with promising to tell the truth on the Bible then lying his arse off . Supreme beings are a bit touchy about having their name taken in vain

And now the kiwi lad Liam Malone has also taken Pistorius' 400m title in a new paralympic record.

Very good news. I hope the SCA allows the appeal.

A comment from one of Pistorius’ deluded supporters….

‘We think it could actually backfire against the state now. The Supreme Court of Appeal judges won’t do anything with the sentence to make it longer, they could actually make it shorter and Oscar could be out sooner. We feel relaxed about it".

Who are these people!!!!

Oh I am upset by this news. I am outraged.Spitting feathers at the inhumanity of it all. I simply can not believe it. Talk about spoiling my day!
I have been moping about all day feeling sightly glum. No one could pacify me. I even pushed the cat away. I was down when I had to get up this morning to find for the first time since winter that it was still dark outside, and now this!
If I had learned this news this morning I would have had a spring in my step all bloody day

Who are these "we"?
As the history of this case has already proven repeatedly his enablers, crusaders and apologists kept getting it wrong and will be wrong one last time

Them again. Reduced to personal attacks against Nel now. I hope they've been enjoying the Paralympics!

Yes, that was pretty shocking! Nice that OP is free to Skype all and sundry.
