Love the album cover! The name is lovely, very fitting to her family background.

I like the album name and cover. Very simple compared to Artpop. I really didn't like that album cover. Must change it on my iTunes.

urghhh am I the only one that's a bit disappointed?? Theres nothing about the album name or cover that excites me. its very bland and 'normal' which isn't what Lady Gaga was/is all about

Unfortunately I do think she has ran out of ideas

to be honest, it seems like this album is going to be more stripped back and personal than her previous ones. She is great at doing slow songs (Edge of Glory, Paparazzi, Gypsy) but I do hope there are quite a few upbeat songs too. I don't think her slow songs will do as well as say an upbeat RedOne produced song.

Apparently one of the tracks is a duet with Florence Welch.

Omg it really is her "Britney Jean"

I just hope the slow songs aren't in the piano-driven vein of You And I and that other dreary one.

i was thinking this too.
had a feeling this would be a bad seller, and now shes gone and done the same sort of album cover/name

people may say Artpop was the start of the downfall, but Artpop sold very well. it just didnt surpass her previous albums.

She's already confirmed this, it's called Hey Girl

I'm surprised at a few of the comments already. She's mentioned a couple songs and described them as dance songs etc. so I'm not expecting an album full of ballads.

I was thinking this too and someone on one of the Britney fansites also commented on that. I reserve judgement on commercial success though 'til the album is actually released.

Really excited by this. Joanne is her middle name and also the name of her aunt who died when she was 19 from lupus. She said every song on the album is autobiographical, which is unusual for Gaga. I mean, I'm sure a lot of her songs have a meaning in the context of her life but she doesn't write so much, or so obviously about her life.

Songs we know about:
Joanne (title track) a few people have heard this already and said its a ballad with epic vocals on it. There's speculation it could be her own composition, originally meant for Cheek to Cheek, 'Paradise' but that she held it back and it's now been re-arranged and reworked.

Sinner's Prayer - this is with Father John Misty. I'm really excited for this one

Hey Girl with Florence Welch

Ayo - Gaga has said its her favourite song from the album.

John Wayne - something about always ending up with the same old John or something like that.

There's also a collaboration with Beck as well. She's mentioned even country and Bollywood influences so I'm really excited to see what she's come up with.

I wasn't blown away by PI. I don't dislike it, but I don't love it either. Hopefully the music video for it which Ruth Hogben directed will be released soon and some performances of it would be great. She already sang it at a small club in London today and sounded awesome!

Perfect Illusion debuted at #12

For Gaga standards, it's one of her worst rankings isn't it? I know LoveGame, You and I, Marry the Night and G.U.Y. didn't go great either but they were all a few singles in to each era.. what a shame.

No surprise in regards to chart positions. PI is only worthy of a filler track or a bonus track on an album. Madness to release as a lead single and hugely damaging to album sales.

Worth noting it would have been #5 if the charts were still soley sales based (as they were in 2013 with Applause).

I always expected streaming to be Gaga's singles downfall; she's just not cool or the 'it' thing to listen to anymore and hasn't been since 2011. She relies soley on her, admittedly large, fan base (as seen by her rise to #1 on iTunes and then quick drop).

Still to be positive, it could easily rise when airplay picks up, it's promoted and the video is released. Only 6 songs have debuted inside Top 10 this year! Or, it might keep falling just as easily.

Can't wait for Joanne regardless.

I think with PL she messed up not releasing the video on the same day the sang came out. That's how most artists do it now. The days of dropping a single one day then releasing the video two weeks later are coming to an end. Everything has to be instant now. So even when the video comes I can't see the song hanging around. Her huge fanbase already have the track and they are the bulk buyers of her material now.

Really looking forward to the album. I like the stripped back cover. I think her OTT image always needed to be reigned in at some point, she has probably done it 4 years too late but I think its best she has started to ditch the wacky stuff. Kate Bush and Bjork can get away with that type of thing because they are recluses but Lady Gaga lives for the fame so when its in your face all the time people get bored of it.

If the song is good, people will scream or buy. PI is a dreadful song.

What, you really think it's worse than the current top 10 at the moment?

I think people scream when they hear a good song because they certainly don't buy them anymore. Lol!
