This album has actually really grown on me. I feel like it is really Gaga - the signs were always there with Brown Eyes, Speechless, You & I, Dope etc

Diamond Heart is a good album opener although the lyrics seem dark 'some asshole broke me in, wrecked all my innocence' and i think Joanne is beautiful. The pain in her voice is palpable, and this song speaks to me a lot as i lost my Dad a few years ago when I was 16. John Wayne and Dancin' in Circles are awesome and I've even come round to Come to Mama which I really hated at first. Angel Down is about Trayvon Martin and the BLM movement and I think works beautifully as an album closer.

I haven't heard the deluxe version songs yet, but apparently Grigio Girls (about her friend with stage IV cancer) is beautiful. I don't think this will be my absolute favourite Gaga album but I do think it's good and I'm enjoying it far more than i originally anticipated. It's an album that needs time I think.
Oh god I don't like any of those songs if that what's the album is like I might prioritise mel c and listen to this in a few weeks time instead.

Sorry to hear about your dad btw

I like it

Sure I prefer her earlier Dance/Pop/Classic/BatsS**t Crazy stuff

BUT

Artists develop, they change, they go through different things in their life, take new outlooks on stuff, meet new people, life moves on and so does artists music

Sure if I was working with Gaga on an album I'd have made another The Fame (Monster)or Born this Way but respect to her for doing what she wanted.

I'm liking it, not loving but usually takes me a while anyway with new albums

First impression: much better than ArtPop.

A slightly weird direction to go in, but no weirder than any other stars of her level and fame have gone with their recent albums (Beyonce, Rihanna, Drake, even Coldplay).

Its a decent album but its not her best and luckily not her worst, that would be the generic pile of shite that is ARTPOP, however I can't hear any hit singles here. It just sounds like an album of filler songs.

OK... so i'm actually loving this It's different to her other albums sure, but it's still very Gaga. I've loved all her albums though and never got the hate for Artpop.

It it just me or does Come to Mama sound rather Christmassy And Just Another Day is the closest she's sounded to 'The Fame' since 2009!

Thanks, that's very kind! It was a while ago now but the song Joanne brought up a lot of memories and emotions, and I think the sentiment of losing someone is beautifully expressed within this song. I could relate to it anyway.

The album isn't like those previous songs I mentioned. I just meant that, for those saying that this sound of hers came completely out of left field, she's always had this more personal and honest side to her (that's why I listed those songs).

It sounds like PInk's albums. Don't like it at all (apart from Perfect Illusion).

Trying to like it. I feel like some of the songs i like purely because its Gaga's voice, which i love.
Couple of them are unlistenable (AYO).
Its a pleasant enough album, but for me its by far her weakest. I liked Artpop.
This is going to be a big flop by Gaga's standards, unfortunately i believe that she genuinely does not care too much about sales. Im sure her record company do though

I would love to hear more unreleased stuff from her, i cant wait another 3 years for an album.

Listening to Joanne made me go back and revisit GaGa's old albums.
"Scheisse" still sounds amazing......it is criminal she never released it as a single.

Lady Gaga is set to take the top spot on both our SPS and album charts next week. Here’s what we know as of this morning.

Lady Gaga (Interscope) 150-160k SPS, 125-135k album
Michael Bublé (Reprise) 85-90k, 80-85k
Korn (Roadrunner) 45-50k, 40-45k
Chris Tomlin (sixsteps/Sparrow) 25-30k, 23-28k
Pentatonix (RCA) 25-30k, 23-28k
I Prevail (Fearless) 21-24k, 20-23k
Pretty Reckless (Razor & Tie) 20-23k, 19-22k
Leonard Cohen (Columbia) 14-17k, 14.5-17.5k

Gaga is currently #1 at iTunes as well, with the new holiday offering from RCA’s a cappella kids Pentatonix at #2. Interestingly, the latter set features a version of a song by Columbia’s octogenarian troubadour Leonard Cohen, who also has a new album out this week.

It'll do well its first week then crash and burn, just like Perfect Illusion.

I feel a bit sorry for Gaga.

In today's climate picking the first single is very important. If people don't like the first single, the album basically has no chance.

The album is not my cup of tea at all, but I think Perfect Illusion kind of gives a misleading impression about the album. It is not typical of the rest of the album. I wonder why they didn't pick as the first single one of the more country, folk or organic tracks which are more typical of the whole album and might appeal to a different audience.

Maybe the label got scared by her change and they picked the song that was the most like her older music.

It might do better in America.

I wonder why global artists do country albums as they're not big sellers outside the US.

I'm not sure why people keep saying it's a country album when it isn't. Sure it's inspired by country, but after listening to it in full, it's by no means a 'country album'

Sinner's Prayer is definitely a country song, and A Million Reasons is close to being a country ballad... but yeah, apart from that the rest of the record isn't country at all.

This record is way better than Born This Way, which had about 3 good songs on it IMO. It's better than Artpop as well, even though there's nothing as genius as Swine.

It's all down to opinion. For example, I prefer Dancin' in Circles over Judas
