Cat toys
What does your cat like to play with?
We've purchased little fuzzy mice and some catnip toys but by far, her favourite thing is feathers. She goes nuts for them! She seems to prefer the bigger seagul ones but pigeon works nicely too.

Dogs are popular at our house. Mid-sized ones with good natures, a little on the dim side. They get surprised every time the cat hides in her favourite spots and then tags them on the tail.
Oh! You probably mean the sorts found in shops. Fuzzy balls, catnip mice, Battle Hamsters (which are actually children's toy.) Cardboard boxes and paper sacks. The classics will never go out of style. |

Especially in the morning, she'll run past you and stop a few steps down the stairs, hang on sideways and get that "I'm SO gonna get you!" look in her eyes. She's a little scary sometimes.

There's a certain type of soft, corrugated cardboard that I swear I can't even get the contents unpacked before my youngest two cats start attacking. It must have an attracting agent in the glue or something, it's really remarkable.
I forgot to mention flies. My cat loves chasing and catching them, putting them on the floor from her mouth and toying with them. She occasionally eats them. |

My kitten loves toilet rolls and the fluffy ball on her scratching post, but her favourite toy (and one thing I will never regret purchasing) is this ball in a round track, she spends hours playing with it - I'll be typing and all I can hear is the ball going round the track and then being batted back, then her jumping and thumping lightly into the side of the bath before it going again. Cost me £4.99, best investment I have made by far. She also likes the laser pointer (I am incredibly careful with it)...the moment she hears the rattle of the keychain it's attached to she comes and sits at my feet and waits, her body shaking in anticipation! Neither toy was hugely expensive, and were definitely things I don't regret investing in.

When we house sit at my parents, and the Beast is confined indoors, we bring his ancient toys from when he was a kitten.
As he is confined we play with him, his favourite is a fluffy green object, with red ears, and a long rubber tail that was once mouselike in appearance. Now it is a just a thing, a thing which has suffered far too much biting, chewing and slobbering ![]() The more realistic mouse, the ball which rolls in weird directions, and the squeaky ball are looked at and poked, but he likes playing with green thing. |

I got my cat one of those soft toys, and she rubs her face all over it.

Catnip is a lovely, beneficial insect attracting, herb. That it makes cats goofy is a side benefit. It is harmless to them, not addictive, and has no lasting aftet effects. |

At home though, her favourite toys are the Y-shaped tunnel thing that she likes to dart through, the laser pen, a sort of feathered tail thing on a stick and a bird toy on string and a rod. |

Nothing that's sold as a cat toy or could possibly be called a cat toy.
Toes, a tape measure, an envelope, a pair of Mr C's socks stolen from the airer. Best of all is wool when I start knitting. |

If i eat a bag of crisps, I always tie a knot in the empty pack and chuck it in the bin - I can guarantee that one of our cats will have got it out of the bin and had an excellent time chucking it about and rubbing her chin all over it. Very cheap toy indeed.
The other thing both of my girls like is coat hangers - they grab hold of the handles and rub their faces all over the hangy bits. We bought a stretchy bit of felt on a wand from Pets at Home. One of the cats loves it so much she cries when you put it away. The other cat is utterly terrified of it! |
