just watched the first half of this, fantastic! brought lump to throat the start did, seemed they were genuinely happy and emotional at that opening scene.

Yes some little kinks to iron out, but then so what, most programmes take a series or two to get settled in, they will listen to audience feedback and change accordingly to make things better in Series 2, or should I be Americanized and say Season?

I haven't watched it in years, but first thought is they have all aged a lot and even h had put on quite a bit of weight
He must be up to eight stone, now.

Hope the other episodes are 60 minutes, because 70 minutes of it every week might be a bit much.

I enjoyed it for the most part, love their new track.

Slightly disappointing for me. The electric cars bit went on way too long and the celebrity bit was a waste of time. Good to see the trio back and the new track looks quite good but I think the american driver will just be annoying.
6/10

Going to have to spend some time staring at the new track, It's only 2 miles from home so might need to look out for some tasty cars in the area!

Do they still review new cars? I liked the larking about but I also like the car reviews.

Not watched it yet - it's pencilled in for that period just after dinner with a coffee and a Lion Bar.
They don't taste like they used to.

Cheaper ingredients.

That was probably something set out by the Top Gear lawyers, you can't have a tame British racing driver that doesn't speak

Just watching it now, beautiful cinematics, and the colour! wish I had a 4K telly, they are still the same old 3 blokes, but it is obvious that Amazon can throw ten times the BBC budget at this.

Judging by the first episode, yes they do. There was a review of the BMW M2, although it was fairly brief.

Ah, good to know. The car reviews were a big part of the show for me. They’d give you a lot of detail about the cars, power, 0-60, handling etc... but it never felt nerdy, and some of Clarkson’s metaphors were hilarious!

I think if it was just the larking about segments and none of the semi-serious review segments, I’d have been disappointed.

I'm the other way, the reviews are a big yawn for me but the larking about makes it fun to watch. Last night was a bit heavy on cars for my liking but that will vary over time (and always did in their previous show). I'm looking forward to more larking in future episodes.

Not sure where they are going with the celeb section - presumably the second 2 were just lookalikes but I don't really see how they can continue the theme indefinitely - they won't get them to come on if they never even get to speak and plug anything surely.
Odd to see them use Vordeman when she is currently living in an Australian jungle but maybe they weren't aware of that when they planned it.

I laughed exactly once - when d'Ambrosio was talking French and Hammond did a look to camera.

It was the challenges and the banter that I loved, but I'm not sure if that will fit with this super-glossy, movie-trailer format. The boys looked better on low-res.

I liked both. I liked the larking about, as long as that wasn't the whole show. I liked all the little segments like the news, cool wall, daft challenges and the reviews, but then I was a pretty huge fan of the show.

16K will be even better, it will be like looking out a window straight onto the action.

If anyone's interested and you don't mind seeing a few minor spoilers, here's an article with a bit of info on the next three episodes.

That is coming I'm sure just look at some of the trailers

One annoying thing for those of us who live in the sticks or anywhere with poor broadband speeds is that you can't download the episodes and then watch them without buffering issues. It is hard to judge the show objectively when the quality of the streaming is so poor for some of us.

It depends on your platform. I downloaded it this morning on my Android tablet and I think you can do the same on iOS.

Just watched it. Some brilliantly funny moments, some terrible lame bits. But for a first show it was a damned good effort (and it looks very expensive!) and no doubt it'll be tweaked as it develops.
