You're right of course I don't know why I wrote that. Fifty feet was meant to be an exaggeration to begin with that I couldn't be bothered to check, but thinking back, I think you're right that there probably wasn't much in it between old TG and this in terms of how near the audience were. I think it was because they were on a platform, sat upright round a table with the audience on three sides, as opposed to relaxing on a comfy sofa at floor level with them in the middle of the audience, it sometimes seemed to me there was a 'distance' between them and the audience that wasn't there before. I'll get used to this new setup, but it'd be great if they can continue mingling within the audience when one of them annoys Clarkson for some reason, as they used to.
The audience was further away but not by a great deal, plus some of those closest to the stage were seated which we didn't have in TG.

When you say 'comfy sofa', do you mean old car seats? I guess that's something else that they've had to steer clear of, hence the table and fold-up chairs, although as, ever, Jeremy seemed to get a slightly nicer chair! Plus they had to sit in reverse order!

The studio scenes in TG worked a bit better because the CHM moved around the set and had cars in there on show as well. There wasn't any of that in TGT which probably didn't allow quite the same cosy ambiance and mix of views.

But I don't think this is a show where we will ever get true figures on as most people I know just don't have amerzon prime and downloaded it as I did on torrents. So how many more million around the world watched it who are not taken into account?
Yes but I guess all tv shows are like this really, IMDB is popular though 9.7 after a day with 6k votes is impressive I thought, when you look at the highest rated tv shows in that section have.

Nothing personal, as it's obviously something that huge numbers of other people around the world misguidedly think is acceptable to do, but couldn't you and the 'people you know' set a good example by doing the decent thing and pay for it? Sorry if that sounds harsh, but if this amazing show isn't supported then it and others like it sadly won't get made in future. And, unlike so much TV, it genuinely is worth the money. Not having Amazon Prime isn't an excuse for not to GET Amazon Prime. And I personally don't feel happy subbing other people to steal it. Even if people just paid the basic £5.99 a month for video only, it contributes to the production of the show. It's unlikely to get a physical release, if other Amazon shows are to go by, so this is the only way to give something back. And please don't come back with "Well, I would never have paid for it anyway, so it's not like they lost a sale"! II wouldn't ever buy a Dacia Sandero, but it doesn't follow that I could nick one because of that.

I could have easily watched this on something like kodi, but £5.99 a month really isn't a lot to be honest, so it's no hassle to pay that price until TGT finishes.

I have Amazon Prime but have only ever used it for deliveries. I think this is the first thing I have ever watched on their streaming service.

Personally I don't give a damn what you think!

But you could if you ever come out of your hissy fit actually address the question posed:

The post to which I was replying was about viewing figures and my response was about the fact that it can't be judged.

But no, ignore all that and carry on with your rant as it really isn't affecting me in any way.

It wasn't about viewing figures, it was about IMDB ratings - completely different things! So if it's been torrented or not, someone can rate it on IMDB to add to the overall rating of the show.

I agree, why should you steal it and think it's not hurting anyone? ....

I thought it was a great start. It still had a TG feel to it. Being local to their track came as a surprise to me last night as I had no idea they were using it. I've been on the 'track' many years ago and even took one of my RS up there once.

So you see my comment was less than a dozen words. Somewhat shorter than your rant so I guess if anyone is having a hissy fit then I figure it must be you. Oh, and as a self- confessed thief your opinion is really of very little value.

It's a twelve episode 'season'? Will there be only one lot of episodes a year? That's quite a bit less than the Beeb used to demand, isn't it?

Unless the DS forum mods chose to (or were asked by a forum member to) supply your traceable sign-up email address and a copy of your post admitting torrenting of Amazon's copyrighted material to their lawyers I guess. Hypothetically of course. And on that bombshell, let's move on...

A bit less. Most years there were a couple of half series of I think around 7 eps, plus the usual feature-length Christmas special. With these Amazon eps having no fixed length, but expected to to be around 60-70 minutes each, it won't be massively less total running time than we're used to.

Black Mirror recently slipped a 90 minute ep into it's run or 60 minute Netflix eps, so we may get some extra-long GTs if that's the edit that works best for that particular episode.

Seriously? Such hysteria posting like it's the killing of the firstborn in Egypt.

Ridiculous!

Have you heard about Trump? Best stay in with the TV off if high blood pressure is not your thing.

I noticed there was a mention of 12 episodes this series. Hopefully its something that the producers can continue every series as thats a fair number for a car show.

Self confessed thief?

It gets funnier by the second.

Anyway back to the actual topic instead of this childish moralistic witch-hunt which isn't doing anything for me but making me laugh.

You'll have to give it a visit next time they are filming there.

Seemed quite restrained to me. Still, if you have a guilty conscience you might be feeling a little over-sensitive. Agree in the grand scheme of things it's not high on the Trump scale, but it doesn't make it right to do it and really rather dumb to admit to it on a public forum. I shall say no more, but seriously think about what you're doing and how it's a small but significant part of a cumulative practice that really is destroying an industry and costing people their jobs.

It's the Science Museum Archive site and is not normally open to the public. They've held occasional open days there in the past and it's well worth a visit if you get the chance. TGT won't be filming at the same time, though!

I read an article the other day (can't remember where...) which said there's a 'New Year Special' they've filmed in Namibia which is going to be 90 minutes.

Well we know the deal they've done with Amazon is for 36 episodes, and May said in episode 1 that there's gonna be 3 years of the show. So 12 episodes a year is pretty much a certainty.
