Loved it again personally - all the classic elements there, felt like a good old episode of... erm... The Grand Tour

Not true. Most subscription internet streaming services are not regulated by OFCOM* (for example Netflix, Funimation, WWE Network and Youtube) as they are based abroad.

However Amazon Prime Instant is sold in the UK via a UK based subsidiary amazon company and therefore since Oct 2015 has been regulated by OFCOM.

*as a side note it is worth noting that any adverts that are aimed primarily at a UK audience are subject to ASA regulation regardless of where the advert is placed/shown, this why there is some UK regulation regarding Youtube but this only relates to advertising and the ASA can only target the advertiser &/or channel owner, not Google/Youtube.

Couldn't stop laughing throughout the Special Forces feature. Absolutely brilliant, although I can already sense that it's going to be criticised quite a lot.

I don't mind Celebrity Braincrash, but when the celebrity is clearly not actually there, such as in tonight's episode, it does seem rather pointless. May's "Does that mean he/she's not coming on then?" line does give me a chuckle, though.

James May looked like he was reading from an autocue at times, and Jeremy Clarkson just seemed elsewhere

And the audience going "wooooh!" all together on cue had the feeling of a pantomime.

I'm sorry to say I wont be wasting my time watching the next episode”

It's always been scripted but this series the setups take too long and the sequences last too long, the plane rescue was just boring after a while.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the driver? maybe I need a bit of time.

But nothing will happen.

I'm not usually a fan of canned laughter but I actually think the American lap would benefit from it

The action film was good even if it did get a bit repetitive, the problem at the moment is without the full SIARPC segment they're trying to fill an extra 10 minutes and it is showing at the moment, they need to find something to fill the gap

Before the guys came out, the director came out and talked for quite a while and took questions. Here are just a few of things he revealed (no content spoilers)
-American Driver is here to stay, at least for all of season 1.
-Eboladrome is permanent track for TGT.
-They do plan on having celebrities make it in to do the test thing, but not untiltil the second season or very end of first.
-There are 2 tents. The same one from LA was used for TN.
-If you get tickets and turn up on time, they WILL get you in, even if they have to rotate people.
-CHM are great hosts and much funnier off-camera if that's even possible.
-Some of the cheesier bits that some people didn't like are going to recurring. Lots of recurring jokes throughout the season.
-The films we say we're amazin. I would say better than the pilot. We're in for a great season!”

3 million people applied for tickets just to be in the audience!

Wow that's a lot imagine how many streamed it on Prime.

EDIT: Just looked at the season 1 page for TGT and, whoops, there is an icon to download each episode after all.

Managed to start watching this at about 11:15 (gave it 15 minutes to download before watching as my BB is so unreliable - so glad the Amazon app supports that).

I thought it was quite a bit better than week 1 and actually laughed out loud a couple of times. The American segment needs some work, his lines are just too forced although the intro is fine and they need him for the lap board to have any meaning. The star segment can't go on all series like this can it? Presumably it will have to be changed up to keep it interesting.

I liked operation desert stumble but I think it could have been trimmed a little - the lack of a forced episode length is maybe making them a little lazy on the editing.

I take it that the blown up JC was the one we saw in the tweet earlier in the year in which case the claim at the time that it wasn't make-up was clearly a blatant lie which is disappointing.

Totally agree with this. I'm enjoying this series but quite a few of the segments feel drawn out and with it being a full hour of the three of them that can get a bit much. The star in a reasonably priced car feature allowed 10 minutes of airtime each and every week which didn't need too much creative energy and didn't rely on the three presenters. I think they either need to bring back some true celebrity interview style segment or cut the show to 50 minutes and be tighter on the editing of each segment.

Otherwise it's all good - the American driver stuff is just a replacement for the stig listening to rubbish music as a way to lighten what would otherwise just be a fast car going around a track to see which is fastest. It's fine and it highlights this in now a global show. Conversation street was back to being the old News segment and the rest was pretty much classic Top Gear films.

Looking forward to the first proper road trip.

Yes I think this is what most are looking forward to, them road trips with obstacles water mud and breakdowns

Not bad but not the best.

The celebrity brain crash element is pointless though.

Having watched the second episode, it's not quite hitting the spot for me yet but I am hopeful.

Don't think the American driver works at all.

Thought the Aston Martin slot went on for too long.

The time in the tent seems to last for ages - it may be because they can't use star in a reasonably priced car to break it up and enough with the 'star' appearing and being killed on the way to the tent. I don't know if they and the audience sitting down is a good idea - it puts distance between them whereas on Top Gear they would often interact with individuals in the audience. It all seems a bit scripted which I'm sure TG was but it was done in a more relaxed way

I want to see them doing daft stuff with cheapo cars and road trips and races using cars against other modes of transport, etc . Call them tests or dares if they can't be called challenges.

The stuff repeated on this week's challenge became unfunny and monotonous - went on for far too long.

Having said all that, they are still the old trilogy - I really want it to be an outstanding success - they just need to do Top Gear but not be Top Gear if you know what I mean - impossible I know.

That's the only bit that seems wasted to me. The first week I got it; they were sticking two fingers up at the old SITRPC, but once was probably enough.

Other than that, I enjoyed it and laughed plenty.

As other have said, the cinematography and production is excellent.

Only thing I don't like about this so far is the American, but it seems the majority on here don't either. Just don't find what he says that funny. But again I really enjoyed the 2nd episode, the Live, Die, Repeat parody was quite good and couldn't have done that on the Top Gear budget.

Amazon remembers where you are when watching so you can stop and it will restart where you left of - even on a different box.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I thought the second episode was awful.

The Special Forces item could have been great, but instead of setting out an actual challenge, they made an awfully scripted comedy sketch that had no humour at all.

The celeb bit got stale after the second person was killed in the last episode, this needs to go asap.

The best bit was JM going to the spinning event, but it would have been nice to have him interview the people there?

I whole-heartedly agree. It was bloody awful. I just can't understand how anyone thought removing the car element was a good idea. The stilted dialogue between them all is the most painful bit, makes me cringe so hard. They're not actors, stop making them act.

There are some obvious clues the shows are not being broadcast in production order. The Celebrity bit referred to a hovercraft death which doubtless we will see in a future episode. Last week they said there should be no cars this week.

It's not bad but would agree the plane bit was too long and repetitive. Don't like the American driver at all. I do find it surprising how forced and stilted the studios bits are. They have been doing this for years but look like they have just met. Can't quite fathom why it appears so awkward.

I thought this week was better for being a bit shorter but there's still quite a bit to improve.

I enjoyed episode two, although some parts were dragged out.

Top Gear was a relatively low key show, mostly filmed in the UK and with occasional segments abroad. I think they've made the show too 'grand'. I liked the intimate feeling of Top Gear. If that makes sense..

An American that I follow on Twitter, who is a big fan of Clarkson, Hammond & May, Tweeted earlier - "Man, the second episode of The Grand Tour was really weak. Just didn't enjoy it.

I know it's still early on in the series, but ugh."

Oh dear. This really needs time to find its feet. Last week was an average episode of TG, this was a really drab one.

I have to say, James May looks uncomfortable and like he really doesn't want to be there (I presume its the scripting). Aston Martin stuff really dragged out and i can't really work out what they were trying to achieve with the special forces bit. Was funny in moments but too stupid for me.

I actually liked the doughnuts part, and there was some real talent in there, but the teams attitude to it ruined it for me.

Once the initial love of CHM wears off, if this doesn't get better then i fear Amazon will wonder what they have signed up to. It probably just needs a good road trip to get it back on track!

I'd agree re James May. In the studio he does look uncomfortable. In terms of the show finding its feet I thought the episodes were not necessarily being shown in production order? If that is the case then we won't really see a natural progression will we? If I'm wrong then it's different of course.
