An American that I follow on Twitter, who is a big fan of Clarkson, Hammond & May, Tweeted earlier - "Man, the second episode of The Grand Tour was really weak. Just didn't enjoy it.

I know it's still early on in the series, but ugh."

Well, that just made me laugh (sorry!).

Why not your own opinion rather than 'An American that I follow on Twitter'?

I liked the 'Edge of Tomorrow' aspects of the SAS part, and the comment about it being a car show after all.

This is the Grand Tour not Top Gear even if some of it seem that way. The first episode was definitely better than the second but the humour is just as good as any on TG.

I've just watched Ep2 and IMO it was probably the worst of the whole of the TG/GT series. The Military exercise thing was too long and completely lame. I really don't like 'all action' segments, the lads are much more entertaining when they're fuddling around making cars out of bacon slicers or attempting to cross a river on a plank.
I sincerely hope it improves.

Not overly impressed with Ep2 here either.

I deeply enjoyed about 4 minutes of the whole show, the rest felt like a chore. My only highlights were JC taking the mick out of the Aston at the start, and the gag about him being interfered with from behind when stuck in the window.

The Aston Martin segment was so dreary, I mean what a pretentious overpriced and impractical piece of junk that was. Couldn't wait for it to end.

The war games stuff got boring very fast too. It was all rather pathetic seeing grown men fooling around with toy guns and fake blood. (well I say toy, they obviously weren't firing real rounds).

Ep1 I went back to watch twice more during the week. Ep2 will be forgotten by tomorrow!

I'm watching episode 2 now, and I'm incredibly irritated by the fact that they've decided to turn everybody's microphones more or less "off", so we can't hear what they are saying. Amazon, I ask you

"Is this any way to run a TV programme?"

I fell asleep while watching late on Thursday night, so I'll have to watch again to form a proper opinion. Did anyone else think that the Vulcan that The American was driving looked completely different to the one Clarkson was driving? I know it was a different colour, but the shape of the body looked different to me as well.

Why the hell are they making all of the speech inaudible?

I can see why this episode got a lukewarm reception at best. The Jordan segment is too long, too repetitive, and not really interesting or funny enough, and it's the centrepiece of the show.

When the stig did the lap didn't we have the audience laughing at all Jeremy comments ? Cos now the laps just seem lifeless, not helped by the American's unfunny quips.
And as for ep2 feature (prefilmed) bit, that came across as lifeless too. Feels like the show has been stretched out to fill too great a time and the cracks are showing.

Well sorry but I loved it! Especially the SAS bits and thought they were very cleverly and comically edited.

Anyone who doesn't like second chance repeat runs had better not watch the film "Source Code" as the whole film revolves around that very concept and is truly great.

If the Three Stooges were in the same situation as Jake Gyllenhaal's character in Source Code, that could explain a lot!!

Well the item was based around Edge of Tomorrow, which is all well and good, but for anyone who hasn't watched it would have had no idea what the premise was based on

Episode 2 made me laugh - I much enjoyed the Jordan bit. But there's definitely something a bit stiff about proceedings. I wonder how much they're missing their long-term BBC crew that they'd travelled the world with and got so used to?

I also wonder if the've lost some of the old scriptwriters? I'm sure CHM come up with a lot of the words themselves, but I'm equally sure that a lot of lines were crafted for them by people who knew the roles each of them played. The creativity seems stretched a bit thin.

The director told the audience that 95% of the TG crew had moved over to TGT.
CTRL-F 95% on here
What I also know is that the Script Editor is one Richard Porter who wrote this rather spiffing tome!

I am not accusing the previous posters of anything but it seems some of the illegally downloaded versions have the audio cut on the presenters mics.

Very disappointed in that episode. Pathetic load of twaddle, most of it. The Jordan film was one of the worst I have seen from the trio. Surely the "Star getting killed on the way to the studio" is not going to be a regular thing?
Overall, OK in some small bits but needs some work IMO.

I agree. The Jordan / computer game reset joke was overdone; twice would have been quite sufficient and the Celebrity Brain Crash isn't remotely funny. I thought too thought that this second element was more cocking a snook at the BBC, not a regular feature. When CHM were on BBC it seemed they had more stuff than they could possibly fit within the hour but now it feels like there is padding.

There seemed no point in them being in South Africa: a few digs at Jacob Zuma, a road sign and car crime but that was about it. Why no outdoor sequences through that magnificent country? A trip along the Garden Route in cars made in Africa or some such would not have been out of place. An interview or two with those doing the doughnuts in old BMWs would have been interesting.

BIB. We know one who didn't move over

And Richard Porter's book is an excellent read. I don't read many books, but I'm glad I found time to read his.

Just to repeat myself: Some of the dodgy download sites had the audio from the presenters mics cut.

Yawn at Clarckson reviewing the AM which took several attempts to get in. Yawn at "oh no they're not live rounds" "oh look they are". 90% recycled gags and set ups. If this had been a new TG episode with the new crew it would be 100% hated rather than mixed.
