I'm with you. The bits in the tent were pretty tedious, but nothing compared to the whole Special Forces 'challenge' bit, which was interminable. The whole Clarkson being too big to get into super cars easily routine is old hat too.

The only good bit was the spinning with James May, which could've made a good extended segment with interviews, May having a go at learning it himself, etc.

I don't think the celeb death section works either. Is the audience all British? Not keen on the American driver who goes round the track, preferred the stig.

I didn't think it was awful, and I think The Grand Tour is a better watch than the new Top Gear, but they have got problems. A lot of people were saying the Clarkson-Hammond-May version of Top Gear was getting tired even before Clarkson's 'difficulties' with the BBC. Since this is basically a complete retread of Top Gear (albeit on a massively bigger budget), that tiredness has not been addressed. I'll still watch it because I enjoy the three of them dicking about, but there's no point pretending this is anything particularly revolutionary.

Disagreeing is one thing. Them slating me to hell and back is another.

Clickbait is posts that have titles like "You won't believe what she said next after this horse bedded the bridesmaid!"

That is not my post.

Hated both episodes. I'm done with it.

I think the audience was mostly South African. The knew where Clarkson was going with the Zuma joke before he explained it.

I'm just wondering that when they bring the cars back into the show how they are going to do midrange?

Fair enough but it wasn't anything they haven't done 50 times before and had it been Evans and co most people (not saying you) would be complaining about not being original.

How do you figure? How many times have CHM done something similar to 'storming' a terrorist stronghold, boarding a plane, rescuing a VIP, then getting safely back to an Embassy? The only bit remotely similar was the car chase, and that was only a small part of it.

If you mean three old farts dicking around has been done fifty times before, then yes, but that's kind of what they do. That's what people want to see and what Amazon have paid handsomely for. Evans and co. would never do it in the first place (nor would CHM before them) because it's too far outside the scope of what TG does.

I watched the Amazon version at about 11:15 on Thursday night (i.e. pretty early) and had no problem with the audio. I was only on a tablet though so probably 720p or similar - maybe it was the 4k version that was faulty.

I watched this show and its just a rip off of BBC's Top Gear. Even has stunt drivers then inserts of the presenters to make it seem like they're driving. It's like hello you just showed the stunt drivers face.

A rip off of top gear?

no.

A quick read through reinforces my opinion that The American must go, just awful. An obvious nod to its US audience but they can do better than him.

I'm pretty sure he will but not this series because it has all been filmed. They have said the first series is a learning curve where they will try new things of which some will work and some won't. Things will be dropped or changed for series 2.

Maybe the answer isn't to get rid of him but just allow him to make natural rather than scripted comments. Silence clearly isn't an option for fear of being sued and they need a racing driver for the lap times.

Re the sound issues in episode 2:It may well be the 4k version
that was at fault. All I know is,that my son and his partner have
bought the full Amazon package and can watch it as it comes
online or live or whatever they brand it! And I repeat, he found
the episode had loud music and sounds, but the spoken track
was inaudible. The next day he tried it again and it was fine. So
I have no idea (I am a technical cretin!) of the issues, just that he
was annoyed at the first viewing, because something he had
purchased, was failing to deliver what it promised.

Ironic considering Evans ripped off the Clarkson,Hammond and may era.

I know, right. It's almost as if Evans' show was basically the same as CHM's, just with different presenters. The similarities were un-canny !

I'm just happy the trio are back you know, they could stand around cooking and it will still be the best thing on TV

Anyway the best by the looks of things is to come.

Why would they have sound problems? Isn't £5m per episode enough to get that sort of thing right?

Shit happens with streaming services, isn't it just a small amount anyway?

We know you don't like TGT and will use anything against it as seen in the review, but why go on

We just watched the first episode. The first half was passable, a tad boring but hoping for better in the second half. NOooo the second half was as boring & predictable as could be. The sky diving part, it was obvious what was going to happen, then with out any decent script they lingered on with people supposed to being killed, it was tedious. The three cars going round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round & round. That was very, extremely poor. I will watch the next couple.....

Is there something wrong with your computer, or is that poetry?
