Like the poster above said, you'll never know for certain that Amazon won't change their mind, but I would be very happy to bet my house that you won't see any TGT on broadcast tv for the next three years.
I'm not sure I'd bet my house on it, but I'd agree with this.
What I'm unsure about though is whether Amazon will break their 'no DVD release' policy for The Grand Tour... maybe a DVD release of the first series to coincide with the launch of the second series? Who knows...

This is what I'm excited about I loved the specials where they travel the world doing challenges, I should think every episode should be similar and also very cinematic, the budget is huge
They've categorically state there'll be no more 'challenges'. The IP for that remains with Top Gear.

I have no doubt there will still be challenges. They might not be called challenges. And they might not be exactly the same as what we’ve previously been used to. But I’m confident there will still be challenges. Intellectual properly law can only provide so much protection...

And knowing CHM they'll actively fly as close to the sun as they can get with that- there will be a section where Clarkson will say they can't do "challenges", at which point James, unable to respond as he usually would, would say "Oh penis" and Richard would drive in a straight line without getting killed.

I suspect you’re right. Andy Wilman has already said that although Amazon have been very un-interfering in the development and production of the new show, they have assigned a legal representative to watch over them to ensure they don’t breach any laws in regards to BBC intellectual property. He’s also said there’s been a few scenes that start “For legal reasons I’m not allowed to say...”, so there’s clearly going to be some tongue in cheek comments on the matter.

For fans of US late night television, the whole thing reminds me of when Conan O’Brien unexpectedly left as host of ‘The Tonight Show’ and then embarked on his ‘Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour’.

In his recent talk, didn't Andy Wilman seem to imply (in a legally cagey manner) that there would be no more "challenges" by name, but that they would be doing something but not calling them challenges.

In the same way that he seemed to say that there could be no Christmas Special (for legal reasons) but that they would propbably air a special episode at or near Christmas witout calling it a "special"?

Eh? I bet you they do challenges, ok they might not be called that but how is doing something like that tied to Top Gear?

Say they could race to Sweden from England for example in plastic pigs, Top Gear and BBC ain't doing nothing

Wasn't Mr Robot an Amazon original as that has just finished being shown on Universal.
Nope, it's a show made for US tv by NBCUniversal that Amazon bought UK broadcast rights to, as with Preacher & Lucifer.

I wonder if Ben Collins will be back to test cars. Obviously not Stig but as the "urine soaked former racing driver" spoof

I still find it slightly odd that the episode they just recorded in California will act of the first episode, whilst the episode they recorded in South Africa over a month ago will act as the second episode. Maybe they wanted everyone to feel more ‘at home’ in the first episode, so decided to record after they’d already done one (the second episode)?

In an interview a few years back Clarkson said they love South Africa and the enthusiastic reaction they get there so they always launch new shows -- like the live shows they do --- there. I'm guessing that's why they did it.

What I find amusing is that Amazon heavily promoted a discount offer for their Prime Membership around this time last year with pictures of CMH. However anyone who took up that offer will find that it needs to renew at full price before they actually get to watch them.
I've just checked on what date I took up the reduced price offer (£57) last year.

18th November. Of course.

But to the viewers they aren’t launching the series in South Africa, they are launching it in California.
The episode they filmed first, in South Africa, will be what the viewers see as the second episode of the series.

True but it doesn't really matter.
There are no links between the shows --as in a drama --- and there is no news section so nothing is current so In reality if they hadn't told anyone about South Africa they could make the programs and show them in any order they want and no one would be any the wiser

I wonder if they will sell it back to the BBC like they did with Ripper Street.

Ripper Street was a special case - the BBC part-invested in it, so a BBC run was always part of the deal.

I think that this might only be open to Amazon Prime customers (certainly it's Amazon.co,uk customers), but you can get a chance to get a pair of tickets for The Grand Tour when it comes to Whitby on 13th & 14th Oct:

Studio recording location for the brand new Amazon Prime series The Grand Tour is confirmed: Clarkson, Hammond and May will be taking their tent to Whitby in October. Apply for a pair of tickets to join them on their grand tour for a once in a lifetime experience.

Amazon.co.uk customers can apply from 09:00 BST on 29 September, 2016 until 23:59 BST on 30 September, 2016.

To apply for a pair of tickets to the recording please complete the form below. The audience requirements differ for every show and location and audience participation is key during the live studio recording. Our tickets fulfillment company, Applause Store, may follow up with a few questions about yourself and your thoughts about the show.

Please note that both Amazon and Applause Store will use the email address and/or the phone number associated with your amazon.co.uk account to contact you.

Successful applicants will receive an email from Applause Store confirming their place on The Grand Tour tent guest list.
I received an email today, and it also shows up in my Prime account.

I applied for some tickets earlier today but I expect there is more chance of me becoming KIng than getting them

Whitby? I wasn't expecting that... too far north for me unfortunately - not that actually getting tickets was ever going to be likely.

Some info about the opening shots of the first episode:

THE £2.5million opening scene for Jeremy Clarkson’s new car show is the most expensive ever seen on the small screen.

Shot in the Californian desert, it features 150 cars, 2,000 “petrolheads”, acrobats, stilt-walkers and six jet planes.

Clarkson, 56, and sidekicks Richard Hammond and James May sped across the Lucerne Valley in customised red, white and blue Ford Mustangs.

The trio were followed by £20million worth of cars, including a Bugatti Veyron and Rolls-Royce.

A source said: “Nothing remotely like it has been seen before.”
