If you can find a copy, in his column for this week's Sunday Tomes(sic), Jeremy describes the exhaustive process by which they selected Whitby.

The bit at the end where they were on the podium and Clarkson said to Hammond "I'm still taller than you" was the funniest part.

It’s all sounding very impressive, I must admit. I suspect this is going to be one of the biggest series launches in the last decade, and Amazon haven’t even really started their promotion yet so the anticipation is only going to grow and grow.

No, it was more like why they didn't want to or couldn't use the other six continents and then whittled it down to the UK and then used the same process for this country.

Huh? They’ve already visited Africa (South Africa) and North America (California)... Whitby is just the UK stop on their ‘grand tour’ of the world.

It does "The opening scene was shot in the desert in California using 150 cars, 2,000 car enthusiasts, six jet planes, and some carnival-esque performers" this got me excited

It's going to be a huge hit, everyone knows it's going to be successful.

Looks like Hammond is even more annoying than he was on Top Gear if such a thing is possible. Really looking forward to the Grand Tour though.

I think that this might only be open to Amazon Prime customers (certainly it's Amazon.co,uk customers), but you can get a chance to get a pair of tickets for The Grand Tour when it comes to Whitby on 13th & 14th Oct:

I received an email today, and it also shows up in my Prime account.
So has anybody who had one of these emails actually received a call back yet? I got a follow up email from Applause saying that somebody would be calling me in the next few days but so far nothing!

It really does. I always wondered whether part of CHM's success on Top Gear was down to them having to try and constantly push their luck with the BBC's boundaries and budgets, but to be fair, I think that the excess displayed here will suit them.

The BBC will have to look on I imagine with a mixture of mild regret and begrudging admiration.

That is one slick trailer.

I don't think I need to worry any more. It looks like it's going to be great.

That closing shot of the engine-roaring Vulcan(?) setting off only to immediately stall is class. They sure know how to do their comedy thing.

I can't help think that Clarkson did everybody a massive favour by punching that bloke.

By 'everybody', you mean Amazon's shareholders? Certainly not anyone who hasn't forked out for Amazon Prime.

Me neither, but then I've got Amazon Prime, as you clearly do. I agree, the bigger budget show will be great for CHM fans who have a way of watching it - one way or another - but it's a bugger for those that haven't.

Will each episode be like a Top Gear Christmas special ?
If so then getting quite excited about this.
