It's a story the Sun would have snapped up, 'overpaid BBC star lashes out at low paid producer', but nought about their star writer till the BBC issued a statement referring to a 'fracas'.

Which of the two had the backing of two Murdoch papers, which one is likely to be able to afford a PR and Management team to put out a sympathetic version of events which are at odds with what truly happened.

I see Mr Clarkson has taken a year to get his tear jerking cover story in place in time to launch a TV programme.

The Grand Tour, more like the Granddad Tour of old farts.”

And I, for one, hope it's a raging success.

As stated by other posters, Ripper Street was a co-production by the BBC and Amazon. And I believe BBC Worldwide still hold the distribution rights, included DVD releases.

I’m still not aware of any exclusively Amazon Original programme getting an official UK DVD release. Region 2 imports, maybe, but no official UK releases.
But as I said, that’s not to say The Grand Tour won’t be the first. I actually think there’s a fair chance it’ll be available on DVD within a year of its Amazon premier.

Alpha House Season 1 region 1 also available from Amazon.

Hand of God and Man in the High Castle listed on CBS web site though I've no idea of their authenticity.

I will give you Bosch as those DVD have Danish rating logos and third party sellers are selling on Amazon.co,uk although never heard of Atlantic the distributor. They are also for sale on cdon.dk the largest Danish DVD website.

That site for Man in the High Castle is a bootleg website which uses faked CBS and other genuine logos to draw you in.

A few giveaways it says all disks are region free DVDs and play in both NTSC and PAL formats, plus they have S2 on sale ready for when it goes live on Amazon in December ! Any genuine US DVD for a high profile title like this would be R1 NTSC.

No one cares. We have no idea on what really happened. Clarkson said publicly that he was in the wrong and the the producer did nothing wrong. They settled out of court and that is that. I can't remember the bloke ever wanting to press charges. And Clarkson said on more than one occasion to leave the bloke alone.

I've seen people under extreme pressure in the real world in a company I've worked at a time when things were going badly wrong on a project get into a rage with each other wind each other up and someone throws a punch. The whole thing was handled internally and they moved on and felt foolish naturally afterwards when calm was restored.

You'd be surprised how often this happens in high pressure jobs. Guess what most time most people want to handle the situation internally on both sides.

I love the look of the show I've got Amazon prime and will be watching.

SJW's like you getting outraged just make me laugh to be honest.

Nah you just don't pay any attention.

The week of the incident there was a report detailing Jeremy telling Piers Morgan:

“I’m going through a difficult divorce, my first ex-wife has also came out of the woodwork to give me hell, I’m smoking too much, drinking too much, my back hurts, I’m all over the papers with this N-word scandal, I’m at war with my BBC bosses, and my mother has just died. I simply don’t have the energy for you anymore.”

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/lif...an-over-steak/

And he spoke himself about the death of his mother and it's impact on his work relationship with the BBC earlier this year.

Also those who paid attention to the news items/tabloid clips just after the incident in question will have observed the guy had an issue with alcohol.... which he admits to in that interview clip posted a few posts above this one.

Now... does that excuse hitting a co-worker? No. But if we treat Jeremy like any other human being who is subjected to stress, emotional pressure and isn't a robot.. and we factor in what he was going through in his personal life... then that would assist in explaining why a man would hit a co-worker after decades of an impeccable record when it comes to his work.

Tell me how many other members of BBC staff came forward after the incident and claimed Clarkson bullied, intimidated or hit them? The answer I suspect you will find is zero. It was a one off incident.

The BBC had a duty of care to him to establish WHY he would do such a thing and support him where possible. That's not to say they should have let him get away with it. But a nine month suspension would have been a far better route for them to have taken rather than sack him. Both for the BBC and for Clarkson as an individual to give him a break. Although judging by his comments regarding the stress of working at the BBC perhaps it was better they parted ways regardless.

I'm not expecting you to agree with me. You're don't like him. I understand that. But I don't understand this idea that you think his personal struggles are somehow engineered to promote his new TV show.

I don’t believe an exact ‘go live’ time has been confirmed, other than it’ll premier on Friday.
My guess would be sometime Friday morning, but I’m not sure it’ll be at exactly 12:01am.

Personally I’ll be watching it after work on Friday night, as I suspect a lot of people will be, so I’ll be avoiding any mention of it online until after then. Let’s just hope the Amazon servers can cope!
If you’re really going to get up early in the hope of being able to watch it before work, the first episode apparently has a run time of 70 minutes, so allow a little longer than an hour.

The team, and their tent, were also in Lapland last week... maybe a Christmas special?

This is a reasonable post and I agree that we should always avoid 'demonizing' people whenever they do something wrong.

However, as someone that works in HR for a large multinational I am also very aware that my company has a duty of care towards all it's employees and has a responsibility to maintain a safe working environment. I am 95% certain that any normal employee would have to be terminated if they physically assaulted a follow worker, regardless of the situation. I'm 100% certain that a manager would be terminated.

As Clarkson was the most 'senior' person involved with Top Gear I personally can't see anyway that the BBC could do anything other than refuse to renew his contract. That's my 'HR view' and not necessary what I would like to see personally, but companies don't have a lot of room for manaevour - especially publicly funded ones. ,

This was posted on The Grand Tour Facebook page:

Amazon Prime year-long membership available for a special price of £59 until midnight on the 18th:

I've had Prime for ages, but if anyone is considering trying it for The Grand Tour then this might be of interest.

Indeed, I don’t think most people realise the extent of Amazon’s AWS hosting service... they’ve come a long way from an online shop to buy books! If we’re being technical I should have said I hope they’ve ‘spun up’ sufficiently to cope with the extra demand on their Prime Video service on Friday.

Perfectly timed for me! My Prime subscription ends tomorrow, so I’ve just cancelled it, and then I’ll sign up again with the £59 offer on Thursday! Just saved £20!

With prime how do most watch and would a Fire Stick be cheaper after you've subscribed?

Richard & James were on The One Show earlier.
Clips at 8 & 12 minutes in (haven't seen the trailer & don't plan to, as I will watch the thing on Friday morning after work.)

I use a fire stick. Two in fact, one downstairs and one in the bedroom. The way it would be cheaper would be you'd get free next day delivery after subscribing.

I'd suspect the most cost effective thing to do would be subscribe at the low price now, and then wait until the inevitable Fire Stick reduction between now and the actual Black Friday. I got my first stick for £19.99 in last year's promotion.

Yeah I'd be surprised if there wasn't some sort of stick sale soon. There is a new one out in the US.

It will be one of the most pirated shows ever. Amazon Prime is available in how many countries? Five?

Reminded me of why I don't watch the One Show

Richard and James and the GT clips were good though

I'm sure GT will look spectacular but I've really gone off clarkson since he punched that producer and now I have no desire to watch him in this new series. Anyway I've always found hammond super annoying so I don't feel too bad about missing it. I still hope you all enjoy it but I'm going to wait for the next series of top gear.

I gather that Amazon will be negotiating local broadcast deals for some area that don't have Prime.
