Interesting. Not the BBFC review, but the fact that it was submitted to the BBFC. Does everything on Amazon and Netflix require a BBFC rating, as if it were getting a cinema or DVD release?

All Netflix & Amazon original shows go though the bbfc, don't think it's legally required but they just do it to avoid controversy basically.

Makes sense with TGT as it basically heads ofcom off at the pass, ofcom probably won't uphold complaints about a work the bbfc approved.

Probably for commercial reasons. Old TG had a lot of fans who might be termed 'younger viewers'. No point potentially alienating them (or, more importantly, their subscription paying parents) by suddenly getting more sweary than they were just because they're on a different platform.

That assumes the swearing is 'genuine' and the bleeping of it isn't part of the skit.

That’s a HUGE roll-out in one hit, I would have expected a more staggered approach... but if they’ve for the means to do it...

This story is running in many news outlets including The Guardian but there is no official press statement from Amazon regarding their streaming service being rolled out. The story may be confused with the announcement rolling out of their app store in 200 countries which has been reported by Amazon, tech and financial press outlets and could include an app for the show. This would be a huge commitment by Amazon, would require significant infrastructure to handle it and I'm sure it would have been reported in their last quarterly financial report only a few weeks ago.

I believe there's one of those voluntary codes regards commercial VOD providers, 'voluntary' as in 'volunteer or you'll be fined'- although I believe it's as vague as making sure someone's seen it, rather than specifiying an organisation.

So the news is that The Grand Tour will be available, via Amazon, in 200 countries from December. But no one knows exactly how yet?

As per the youtube video fronted by the trio obviously it will be available but much of the reporting has highlighted the prime streaming service will be rolled out to 200 countries. There could be an app for the show. I am not saying they won't roll out the full service but it just seems odd that in a conference call only a few weeks ago responding to a disappointing 3rd quarter and shares sliding as a result it would have been a big opportunity to make an announcement about the launch. It is also a surprise that it isn't carried on the official press releases to the financial markets as far as I have seen.

Yeah clarkson said the other week the first show is all cars and the second one more comedy I assume after that it's more of a mix

Just signed up up for the £59 offer to watch the Grand Tour but I was quite surprised at the number of other TV shows which aren't included in Prime.

Has Amazon ever had a show launch with this high a profile before? Just wondering if their servers are going to be able to cope with the demand at midnight. (I know not everybody will be watching it then, but I get the impression that a lot will be)

Get used to it, streamed content often has that problem, network congestion and your computer's power are contributing factors.

Cool wonder if they will release it on DVD later down the line?

It's been fine for me; they are sat around the table now and everything has been in sync up to now.

Finding it better than Sky Sports which is never in sync for us
