The most harshly treated act from each year?
Who would you say is the most harshly treated act from each series of The X Factor? And if you want to give out reasons then you can also.
I'll pick from series 3 onwards as I've seen more performances from that point to make a judgement. Series 3 - Ashley Mckenzie - He had one of the more interesting vocals that the show has ever had, yet left too soon for my tastes whilst some weaker acts were advancing really far into the competition in my eyes. Series 4 - Rhydian Roberts - He should've won imo for again being unique to the show, and being a great performer and vocalist imo. Series 5 - Ruth Lorenzo - She kept struggling in the votes when she was delivering some great performances, and imo deserved to beat acts like Eoghan and JLS who were far weaker in style and vocal in my eyes. Series 6 - Jamie Afro - As I said on another thread acts like Olly, Stacey, and Danyl were easily going through off much weaker performances than Jamie on most nights, while Jamie was being heavily scrutinised by the judges and the public whenever he'd hit one bump note, it was ridiculous to me. Series 7 - Aiden Grimshaw - He would get criticised by certain sections of the public for decent performances, while Matt, Rebecca, Cher, and Mary were getting away with some average or sometimes even shambolic performances on the same nights as Aiden's performances which I found really unfair. Series 8 - Misha B - She shouldn't have struggled in the votes quite as much as she did imo, but I suppose Tulisa and Louis should be thanked for that. Series 9 - Kye Sones - He was always low in the votes, yet was delivering better performances at the lives than the two boybands, Ella, Jahmene, and Rylan yet they'd all beat him in most of the votes, really bizarre to me. Series 10 - Luke Friend - Struggled in the votes and lost to two weaker singers imo, in vocal, genre, and credibility. Series 11 - Lauren Platt - Again was getting stick for decent performances by certain sections of the public whilst acts like Fleur, Stereo Kicks, and Stevi were getting let off entirely by the same section of the public, truly bizarre to me considering they was actually failing to hit any notes in some performances. Series 12 - Max Stone - Again was getting treated harshly by the public when there was way worse performances going on at the lives than Max's, including at the first live show yet most of them beat him in every single vote which was incredibly unfair imo. By the way this isn't meant to be attacking anyone's opinions on here, it's just that a new episode is airing tomorrow and I thought it would be good to look back on other series where we feel that acts got treated harshly in each series. |

I think Monica Michael was treated harshly last year tbh. She was way better than some of the girls but was overlooked and Rita was a crap mentor to her aswell. One of my faves from last year.

so you consider just the shows? because some acts got it harsh before, like Melanie McCabe, Jade Richards.

I was amazed he didn't win ![]() Paul Acaster was stitched up

You think JLS were on par with Eoghan

I don't know about each series but I think G4 and Ray Quinn were Robbed as were Olly and Rhydian IMO all should've won, I think Mason was harshly treated there were people worse than him in the lives but the public didn't seem to give him a chance to correct his small mistake from 6 chair challenge, I believe he was worthy of another chance

Didnt those contestants you mentioned get through on their own merit though and because they had a fan-base? its about more than just vocals, just standing there singing isn't going to cut it week after week, this is not the voice! Also putting Fleur in same bracket as Stevie please, I know some of her vocals were a little shaky with some notes but she more than made up for that with her stage presence and all round popstar potential, You know the girl hits whistle notes these days, Eoghan and JLS? come on....
Contestants treated most unfairly IMO, no particular order... Rachel Hylton Tamera Foster Paul Akister Paige Lauren Murray TreyC Jade Ellis Andrea Faustini Luke Friend Amelia Lily Misha B Ella Henderson Chenai Ashley Mckenzie |

I don't think Ruth was treated harshly. Yeah she was in the sing off a couple of times but someone who was barely shown at all prior to the lives she dos very well.
She was picking up more and more votes as the weeks went on and only finished in 5th by a tiny amount. I'm sure when she went all acts were really close in the vote |

so this thread is basically "acts that i liked but weren't as popular as i wanted them to be so lets say they were treated unfairly rather than just accept that other people didn't like them as much as i did" ...

He was treated very badly but he was an absolute fool to go back after he'd been binned off for being too chunky and not pretty enough. He had an offer to work was Bluey from incognito which would have been a much better fit for him as he's never going to be a pop star and he was crazy to turn it down just to be screwed over by cowell

Max Stone wasn't treated awfully at all. The bore got further than he should have.
Most of these weren't even treated badly. The public just didn't warm to them as much. |

Nikitta was treated appallingly. Purposely given crap songs every week in order to give chosen one Leona a chance. They wanted rid of her so the vote wouldn't be split between two girls. I mean, Bring It On Home, Dancing Queen and Heaven Must Have Sent You....horrendous song choices. I don't know if there's ever been more of a blatantly obvious plan to get rid of someone.

I will never get over simons treatment of Nikita. She went into the lives as probably the most popular but her song choices were terrible, and I'll never forget Sharon ripping her apart because she wore a glove...
In terms of media, Diana was also treated horribly after laryngitis gate, the public were vile to her. |
