Pomegranate molasses is now readily available in some delis, not sure about supermarkets.
I have seen it in many supermarkets, but I never tried it before. I guess it's very sweet/sugary? I know pomegranates have many health benefits, like lowering cholesterol, lowering blood pressure, fighting cancer, and improving heart health and circulation.

The only downside is the high price of the pure juice (not the diluted/artificial drinks).

Its not a myth, there are some people, and I am one of them, that react badly to carbs like potatoes, bread, pasta, rice etc and it makes me really hungry and disatisfied,, Im much less able to control my compulsions if I eat them. If I stay away from them, my compulsion to eat is controllable and the weight drops off. The problem is of course, staying away from them in the first place.
Same here! Whenever I eat pasta or potatoes I become insanely hungry afterwards. My food cravings are much more controllable with an empty stomach than with a carb-loaded stomach.

Just because they dont affect you like this, it doesnt mean others dont have a problem.
My issue is that as a food group people demonise these items whether they have such a reaction to them or not. You do? Fine, I don't know anyone else who does. Eaten in moderation as part of a balanced meal they are perfectly fine for most I bet. Every person I know who has cut them out of their diet, purely because they believe eating them will make them fatter has yo-yoed and ended up looking like crap to boot, over-compensating eventually for the lack of energy with chocolate, dreaming of being able to eat a pizza! The key is to eat them with other food groups. Every single person. Funnily enough there wasn't an obesity crisis during the war/post war years when these items were staples at every table at every meal time.

Refried beans. These were impossible to find. Supermarkets looked at me as if I was an alien when I asked for them.
Refried beans comes as a convenience food. Not what I would call a basic staple,
Or it is a recipe - which you make yourself - with beans,

I know how to make it now. In 1990, it was difficult as no one knew what it was. There were no recipes available and no internet.
