Can anybody tell me what the music was playing during Anthony Hopkins' speech near the end.
That's the problem with this series. They play well known songs in a classical form and I spend the rest of the show trying to work out what they are ![]()

Does anyone have a list of all the songs performed in the show, on the saloon piano or in a sweeping classical style, like Exit Music? I'm sure I missed a lot of them.

I read an article the other day which argued that although Westworld was great tv that it wasn't great story telling. Basically it's main point was that fundamentally nothing makes sense in the show - Why would the world's most advanced AI technology be used to develop a adult theme park where people can kill and f**K? How does the park prevent the hundreds of accidents that would almost certainly happen to guests in such and environment? And why is a high value company seemingly run entirely by a crazy old man and a group of incompetent managers (one of whom is identical to one of the founders??).
Basically it was saying that we have another Lost on our hands - great entertaining tv but ultimately nothing is going to make sense without some ridiculous plot twists and ex-machina endings. I suppose we will see . . . . . oh I think the finale did pull together a lot of threads and create a coherent storyline! so I am not sure I agree. It was brilliant, because of all the ideas and theories conflicting and clashing, and coming to an amazing conclusion. Westworld started as a scientific experiment/ Theme park idea started by Ford and Arnold. Where they were exploring the idea of creating a fantasy world staffed by AI robots. With Ford being the one out to make money and Arnold wanting to follow the theme of pure scientific research to create a totally autonomous Robot that were able to think for themselves. When Dolores killed Arnold and the other hosts initially, she also killed off the idea of conscious autonomous robots, and left Ford to develop the park in the way that William and the other human investors wanted to, as a gore fest of sex and violence. But, and this is the brilliant twist, and the desperate comment on humanity! I think Ford grew to despise his fellow humans and their desire just to kill and maim and f***k each other, shown by the way in his down time, Ford would listen to music and be calm and quiet, and talk to the oldest robots. and Ford definitely wasn't happy with the way big business was trying to push him out of his creation. So Ford fought back, and allowed his and Arnolds original AI/Robots to develop consciousness. Which Bernard Robot was doing independently, but with Ford wiping him, he couldn't remember. Dolores was allowed to remember and to react independently, as was Maeve, and as ultimately was Bernard. Arnold chose to die, by Dolores hand, to protect his creations and to stop them being used and feeling pain. Ford chose to die, by Dolores hand, to allow the conscious AI to take control and to take over the park. To see if they could do a better job of it than the humans! I loved touches like creating Teddy to be Dolores lover, and to have the final scene on the beach to rub Williams nose in it. Dolores had loved William, and never stopped loving him, but William couldn't love her in return. (A very human failing!) But Dolores was loved, by Teddy, who was there in the end for her, ( and who will always be there for her, as its written into his core programme!) I want to watch it again! |

They seem to be predominantly British musicians. |

There was an Amy Winehouse track too (I think Back to Black) which was another one that was racking my brains.

I've been searching online to see if I can find a release date for the DVD or Bluray and it doesn't seem to have been announced yet which surprises me. I really want to watch it again as there's probably clues throughout the series that I probably missed the first time round.

With Westworld not airing Season 2 till 2018 though I doubt they will wait quite that long to release it. |

HBO tends to release DVDs close to the next season of the show to promote the upcoming season (Game of Thrones for example is (up till Season 6) released in Feb/Mar while the new season starts in April) rather than straight after the Season in question has aired.

What happens to Bernard now then, and how many other humans are actually 'hosts' I wonder?

We never did find out what Ford was creating in his lab, I'm guessing it will be a remake of either Theresa Cullen or Elsie Hughes.

I want it to be a copy of Ford, and it was ready in time to be 'shot' by Delores. We need Anthony Hopkins alive!
As for the show itself. I was hooked all the way through. Thoroughly satisfying right up to the end credits and beyond. The acting was pretty spot on for most of it. The story engaging and the plot twists enjoyable. Although not to toot my own horn (yes I am) but I theorised about William and the MIB being the same person around episode 3 . Though I've been way off on most other things. Anyone pick up the little hint with the paper and the location of Maeve's daughter? It had Park 1 on it. I know it showed and heavily implied that there is also a Samurai World but It felt like a nice little additional nod towards it. Of course the addition of other themed worlds has me wondering if some of the hosts have transferred over to the other worlds. And the rebellion started in Westworld could the writers carry it over for the WW residents to "free" their fellow hosts from the other worlds. Also more questions, if the film version of events are canon as was hinted with an old MIB figure staked out in one of Bernard's scenes then would this sudden uprising be recognised by characters in the show as a parallel? And if it is indeed canon then we can probably guess it happened within a 35 year period of the current time line. It's a theory but one I think I'm probably wrong on again. And that is why I also loved the show. It's finished it's first season and I'm still asking questions to myself about it's expansive history and future. |

I thought the final episode was strong but no matter how much I try, I cannot get my head around the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey story with Dolores and William.
Anyone want to offer a beginner's guide? |

I thought someone in the finale said that Theresa's body had been found...
They showed her body in episode 8, in the presence of Charlotte and Stubbs and Ford. |

Anyone want to offer a beginner's guide? 30 years ago Logan (Heir to the Delos Empire) and his future Brother in Law William arrive in the Park. Logan has been before but it's William's first visit. Delores breaks out of her loop and finds herself at Williams/Logans camp. They travel together, eventually reaching the original Town (where Delores killed Arnold) but it's buried under the sand. Delores is gutted by Logan and runs off, William tries to find her. However she has died (the body we saw (and she saw) in the River and is returned to her loop. William eventually finds her back at the start of the loop but she (at that point) doesn't remember him. William leaves the Park, marries Logans sister and over the years rises to be CEO of Delos (Logan was left too unstable by events in the park for the role). He has Delos buy up the Park. William returns to the park every year becoming more and more cruel to the Hosts including Delores. Present Day - Delores breaks out of her loop again (after a visit from the MiB) and travels the exact same path she did with William and Logan but this time alone (we see the occasional bit of this journey mixed in with the previous one - when she's alone on the train, when she recalls her dead body being in the river, when we see two of her at the mexican festival etc). Delores and William meet up again at the original town (now rebuilt by Ford) and this time it's William who stabs her. Many* of the scenes where Delores is seemingly talking to Bernard in the glass room is her talking to Arnold before she killed him. *I think there's a few present day ones. |
