I only mentioned it because when the bloke was shooting at him, the bullets were not hurting him

Well if Anthony Hopkins is in it then this show must be good. Was his name in the credits at the start as i did not see it
I think it was a nod to the original. Make the human appear as an invincible robot.

Token annoying Brit with a Ricky Gervais feel.

Well the casting director picked the right actor for the part as Ed Harris really does look like Yul Brynner from the film

Evertime i hear a British accent in one of these US shows, they always sound like they should not be there

Is anyone else getting a Fallout 4 vibe with the Synths, err, I mean Hosts?

Certainly reminds me of the town of Megaton in Fallout 3. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise as the writers would probably take open world games with independent acting npcs as an inspiration.

I would imagine the inspiration is from the original 1973 Westworld film.

They are also using a well known Rolling Stones song as background music

True! But this Westworld is like a modern open world game.

Yeah I think that's deliberate to show their realism and growing self awareness.

The bloke must feel a bit weird taking to a naked person even though she is a Robot

I liked the fact that the pianola which kept looping was playing "black hole sun" by soundgarden.

So a couple of robots are becoming sentient? Wonder who the girl in the photo is?
I was confused about Ed Harris, taking it a bit seriously isnt he(within context of the character)?

I think Ed's meant to be the equivalent of a power gamer who's chasing hidden missions and looking for 100% completeness.

In one of the scenes in the saloon, the pianola was playing Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. Very interesting opening, has a macabre feel to it. It will be interesting to see how the plot line develops over the coming weeks.

I would put money on a lot of the Westworld staff actually turning out to be Hosts

There's a couple of ways in which I think that this episide could have been improved.

I think deliberately try to confuse us about who was human or robot was over done. Teddy on the train was ok but when that gang rode into town and started shooting everything up, at first I thought it was trigger happy guests. But no they were robots.

I'd also have had a violent episode of a robot losing it and killing a human. The park staff would then be on tenderhooks wondering if it might happen again but Ford would keep the park open against advice. There was none of the tension of Jurassic Park and I think there should have been.

Maybe they are saving that up for a later episode

For a HBO series there actually wasn't much sex. Most graphic part was the chap having his face blown off.

Thoroughly enjoyed the episode and will be watching next week, how many episodes in the series? Do we think Hopkins will stick around or will his character be killed off at the end of season 1?
