For a HBO series there actually wasn't much sex. Most graphic part was the chap having his face blown off.

Thoroughly enjoyed the episode and will be watching next week, how many episodes in the series? Do we think Hopkins will stick around or will his character be killed off at the end of season 1?
Depends how much they are paying him. If it is a lot, he'll be gone early, and if not a lot then he'll be around a while.

TBH it will probably depend on what his role is in the glitches. He seems to be the instigator of whatever is happening to make the bots more sentient.

I think Sidse Babett Knudsen's character will organise some sort of boardroom to try and overthrow him with the help of the British guy

There are ten episodes.
IMDb have put it at the top of the sixteen series & movies they are most excited about this month.

I just can't see someone like Hopkins staying too long on one project. Hopefully I'm wrong and he stays for at least a second series he was one of the best things in the pilot IMO.

I can see that happening.

Excellent thanks, story should hopefully move at a fast pace then.

Is it meant to be an ongoing series - or just the ten episodes and then done? I struggle to see how they'll be able to string it out much beyond one series. The original was a little classic in my opinion, telling a good story and building up to a climax, where the robots rebelled and killed the humans. But they can't do that every weak on the show. Once it happens (at the end of series one perhaps) the park will be shut down and that will be that. How do you go on from there?

Depends if he is human or not.

How far behind is the UK pace from the US pace? I thought the show was more like TWD with 12 (or 24) hrs difference, yet there's two threads with different paces?

I loved the opening titles at the start
Very HBO.

Was expecting Hopkins to be killed of at the end, it would have made for a better first episode - as it was, it just plodded along, (bored with the hosts own little stories) just giving you another to want to watch next week.

I'm sure that basement is going to kick off soon.

And that nose drill.

I'm not sure where everyone (at least in the press) is saying this is as good as Game of Thrones. I have to say that the pacing was really, really slow and I can watch things at a slow pace if I feel it is going somewhere. There was far too much set up or at least the set up was done in a very "paint by numbers" pace.

Saying that, the last ten minutes really started to pique my interest. I'm going to see how it goes, but right now it isn't a "must see" for me unlike Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead.

(Also, I know that it is based on the 70's film, but I can't help feel as if I have seen something like this before. Just not in a Western Theme park setting)

48hrs apart then. One would think people could refrain from entering the topic for 48hrs, no? I thought the difference was longer. Ta for the info either way!

I think it feels familiar because it borrows from so many other shows/movies as well as the original. The high tech control centre and creature creation process are taken straight out of Jurassic Park. There's also a strong Robocop feel to it as well - programmed to serve but then retrieving old memories which affect behaviour. There's more but it's all very interesting.

This is a forty year old sci-fi cult classic that really does not need a television series, Yul Brynner was superb and was eerily robot-like in every movement.
I love the original movie, and agree that Yul Brynner was absolutely superb, essentially transferring his Magnificent Seven character into android form. Then turning it, if not evil, then certainly pissed off. Had this new version been trying to remake the movie, I'd also agree that doesn't need doing.

But on the evidence of episode 1, this is bloody fantastic. Great acting, intriguing very well written plot, and they've clearly thrown a truck load of cash at production. So far, it doesn't tread on the toes of the movie, just explores more of the intriguing, unanswered questions, and adds a few new ones.

Top quality TV.

Didnt find it slow apart from the ad breaks. In fact we were surprised when it was almost 10pm and pleased it went on over the hour. Will watch on catch up next week. Enjoyed it although so far it is quite like other robor AI type things

Ed's character is human! He commented on the robots' behaviour and stated that he was paying a lot of money for this...
Or is he the first AI to become sentient, and work out how to make bullets harmless to him? I'm thinking there must be a way, something that 'in world' would make it impossible for one guest to shoot another by accident.

I think deliberately try to confuse us about who was human or robot was over done. Teddy on the train was ok but when that gang rode into town and started shooting everything up, at first I thought it was trigger happy guests. But no they were robots.
This was explained before it happened, they said they would have a bloody shootout to kill the infected robots, so they could get them off the street for re-programming, without upsetting the customers (by having 200 robots removed from the game).

Then they all stood there around the map, waiting for it to start, so we knew they were robots.

I think the later season of Game of Thrones could be tagged as slow pace, but that is a completely different theory I have on that.

I am going to stick with it. As I said, the last 10 to 15 minutes definitely grabbed me a bit more, especially with Delores swatting the fly

I'm surprised you class The Walking Dead as must see...as that for me as a show is so inconsistent, sometimes it's really good and grabs your attention, then the following week it can be the worst thing ever shown...you can miss a number of episodes and still feel like you haven't missed anything.

I just know my luck, the episode I miss of the Walking Dead would be the one with the plot development, but I do agree that it is inconsistent and I find the first half of the season are very slow only to really ramp up in the second half.

As I said I am going to give Westworld a shot. It is only the first episode.

They list the first 8 episodes as weekly, until 20/11, then the final 2 just say TBA at the moment.
