I guess I'm in the minority but I do feel sorry for Paddy. Yes he cheated on Rhona and that was wrong. However Rhona moving in the husband of Paddy's side chick after a couple months reeks of revenge and desperation. Also Rhona has taken over Paddy's house. She has no right to do that, she might be entitled to half of the house but she has no right to move another man into it until after the divorce. If I were Paddy I'd have changed the lcoks on Rhona and put her and Pierce's stuff out on the curb.

He left the marital home of his own accord so although it's a bit rich Rhona moving Pierce in, there's not a lot Paddy can do about it imo.

I think he could get Pierce out of the house if he wanted to. He is still the owner of the home so I don't think Rhona can move anyone in without his consent. Also when Paddy left it was only temporary, so Rhona really had no right to do that.

Couples split up and move on all the time, (the process is just speeded up in soaps), and if Paddy were to go to Court over it, no judge in the land would throw a mother and child out of the family home and on to the street just because the adulterous husband didn't like the mother's new boyfriend.
If they do get as far as divorce proceedings then their respective solicitors will hammer out the terms between them, with the needs of the child always being paramount.

I'm not saying he could get Rhona thrown out but he could get Pierce thrown out. Seeing as its still both their houses Rhona can't move anyone in without Paddy's permission.

For me though this was Paddy's house before the marriage so you'd think Rhona would respect that and move out if she wants to carry on with another man.

Legally ? I'd be surprised if that was right.

Yes, if they are both owners of the house Rhona cannot move someone else in without Paddy's consent. She also can't kick him out. He has just as much right (if not more) to be in that house as Rhona does.

Course she can and at very best it would be a civil matter. The police and legal system are not interested in petty domestic squabbles unless violence is involved. (The way things stand, Paddy is more likely to be the one finding himself with an injunction against him for trashing the place).

Well yes, in the real world she would probably have moved into Pierce's beautiful big house, but then she'd be more than 100 yards from ED's Main Street which of course isn't allowed in any soap.

I disagree Rhona has no right to move anyone in to the house without Paddy's consent as long as they are still married.

What goes in American law might not go in UK law though. If there is anyone here who works in that area of law in the UK I'd be interested to know what could be done.

Also you've said many times on other threads over the last however long that you don't like Rhona because she asked Paddy to chuck Aaron out when they moved in together. So might that be clouding your judgement a bit?

I would to like know how this would play out IRL.

I don't think my hate for Rhona has clouded my judgement on this, who moves on from marriage so quickly and with your husband's side chick no less? Rhona isn't think of Leo in this situation either, the last thing a kid would need is some strange man moving in to their house. This is honestly worse than Debbie moving Ross in moments after she ended i with Pete since her kids aren't special needs. I always hear how kids like Leo need stability in their lives and Rhona is not doing that by moving some man in before she even filed for divorce.

I agree with you there, I think Rhona has been really irresponsible. It worried me that Leo was drawing family pictures with Pierce in them.

Exactly Rhona is basically telling Leo this is your new step-daddy to Leo by moving him in and we all know this relationship will be over by Christmas so Leo will have lost two father figures in 6 months. Rhona is with Pierce for revenge plan and simple and isn't not giving a second thought to Leo's well being.

That's all well and good but paddeh didn't exactly think of the consequences when he was having it off with Tess did he?

He's apparently the Brad Pitt of the Dales

Very true but two wrongs don't make a right. Plus Paddy had no intention of destroying their family. Rhona is living with man she has known a couple of months. She is worse than Debbie, at least when she moved Ross in she had known him for a much longer time and her children aren't special needs. When your actions make Debbie Dingle look like a better parent there is a problem.

I don't t think it's s about revenge - I suspect it's s more about her self esteem taking a knock - but still it's s way too soon IMO before introducing a new father figure to Leo.

Either way its not a smart move, her only concern should be her child.

Somewhere Jennifer Aniston is laughing her ass off about the whole thing. I never understood how Brad Pitt chose Angelina over her, Jennifer looks so much better.

Given it was 11 years ago and Jennifer is remarried I highly doubt she gives them much of a thought.

She seems the type of woman to keep her dignity. In any case Brad is the common denominator. Once a cheater. ...

This is true and MTO is reporting that Brad was having an affair with another one of his co-stars. They say you lose them how you got them.

If I were Rhona that is exactly what I would have done to Paddy. He had an affair and he left the marital home to move to Germany. My only problem with the whole thing is that he returned

PS I like the way you give Pierce the dignity of calling him the husband but poor Tess gets called Paddy's side chick

,

Firstly, Rhona is not doing anything wrong. Rhona clearly isn't with Pierce to get revenge on Paddy or to hurt him, she has shown multiple times she cares about his feelings and she did try to make it work with him and forgive him.. The divorce may not be finalised but she is a free agent and can be with whoever she likes.

Paddy had no intention of splitting the family up you say? Oh well that's ok then that he lied and cheated and bedded another woman for months on end behind his wife's back, jeopardising his family just for a few sexual thrills- but as long as he never intended to break his family up...

You also condemn Rhona for moving on to fast- every human is different- were not robots that have to adhere to a strict time table- people move on in different ways.

You seem to be applying logic that is based upon a double standard when it comes to Men and Women. The fact that Paddy has done no wrong in your eyes (or at least nothing majorly wrong) and that Rhona is essentially Jezebel is baffling.

Rhona has been hasty granted in moving Pierce in, but people don't always make the smartest moves when they have been hurt and what Paddy did to her devastated her.
