Does the ICU nurse (Aisling Bea) work 24 hours a day. Doesn't seem to be any other nurse looking after him !

The Final 2 episodes will air on Consecutive Days with 5 on 27th October and the Final episode on Friday 28 9pm
Glad they're doing it like that Waiting a day is nowhere as bad as a week to see how it ends

I hope they find a way to justify this 3rd series, before moving on series 4, because so far they have not

Able to stretch his arm above his head whilst alone but can't move them when the nurse is dressing him?

Well the first series aired in 2013 but was filmed in 2012 so I assume it's that. The whole story so far has happened within the same year.

Id say that ending implies he is faking it.
So if we are still at May 2012 that means the entire series has only spanned 3 months! yet no one other than Spector seemed to notice his daughters five years older lol |

I think the legal dilemma posed in this series is fascinating.
Personally I think his amnesia is genuine, I can't see how he'd have been able to devise such an elaborate plan straight out of a coma and not trip himself up within minutes when being questioned. That said he may recover his memory at some point and then be able to cover up that recovery. |

Nah he is faking it.
There are clues: Most significantly I think that in the stupid "light at the end of the tunnel" sequence in episode 1 Spector's daughter AND son are heard shouting out to him but tonight he lied tothenurse, telling her it was only Olivia who called to him. This may just about justify why that daft scene exists. Additionally if he only remembered Olivia as a 2 year old, how did he recognise her voice in the tunnel? |

A mass murderer and no armed guard at the door?
Why take the handcuffs off him when he was being questioned for court. And why does Gibson not cough to clear her throat ![]() So obvious where this is going. But poor children and wife

But poor children and wife ![]() By now he ought to be back on a ward unless its a security issue and if its a security matter then he ought to have a dedicated police officer watching closely by. One good thing is Stella and her boss are not buying this BS and want to have the book thrown at psycho Pete. |

Really enjoying it though and very glad I decided to give it another chance as I really was disappointed with the 2nd series and wasn't going to bother with this one! |

EDIT: I thought there was an armed guard just outside the ICU? It'd make more sense for a guard to be stationed there than actually inside the ICU where medical staff may well be rushing about, and also out of sight of the person you're guarding too.
The third episode delivered exactly what I felt it needed and stepped things up a notch, again playing up to the notion that Series 1 was all about the crimes, Series 2 was all about the capture and Series 3 is all about the conviction. As Stella says in this episode it's vital to get him away from the medics and back into the justice system as soon as possible. The show knows it's been in a hospital for three consecutive episodes. Everything it does it seems to do very knowingly and for a reason. It continues to be a brilliant character study, and an exploration of the system as a whole. Much more than just a show about a detective solving crimes. The standout scenes in the third episode were the court scene, simply for taking the series in the clear direction it's headed. And the scene with Rose in the interview room - it was good to get someone talking to Stella about Stella for once, even if only briefly. She really is a woman with a specific purpose, again playing up to the idea that she is fixated to the point of obsession with her work (also implied by refusing to go home at the end of the first episode). A very likely tragic ending for Paul's wife and kids. But then part of this series has been to explore the fallout of everyone around him. Paul says in this episode that he couldn't abandon his daughter, and it reaffirms that his love for her is indeed very real. But robbing him of that is no consolation, because it comes at the cost of her innocent life. Perhaps the predictability of the series' direction, especially given the big questions about life and death this episode, are that he's going to be given literally nothing to live for and then successfully convicted. Forced to live with nothing is the closest to a 'happy ending' or to 'justice' that the show can deliver in real terms. The fact that Stella correctly guesses that Paul's wife has nothing to live for immediately ahead of her suicide/attempt might give her a bit more sway in determining how things play out...especially if cracks begin to show in Paul's lies regarding his alleged amnesia. All in all, so far the third series would have been interesting enough exploring the characters going through the courts process as it is. I usually find the show interesting enough that you could just have Gillian Anderson monologuing at the screen and it'd likely be good. They've added more of a legal and a moral dilemma with the amnesia though, and it's given ground for yet more exploration of the justice system. Definitely more satisfying than the second series so far, and headed for a resolution that should hopefully have been worth the wait. |
