The acting by all concerned is outstanding. Particularly Paul and Sally.

I am worried about Sally and the children in the car on the beach. Will she drive into the sea?

I think he is faking. The way he got out of bed and was doing stretching exercises, and then shortly after he needed help to get his sweatshirt on. It just feels fake ... and he is doing it very well. His nurse is definitely falling under his spell and I think she will help him escape. I think he will escape on the last episode, kill the nurse - and then it will be back to cat and mouse trying to find him again.
As for Mum and her kids - I felt quite teary watching that scene. Such desperation. She obviously wants all that's good in the car with her and for them to go together. Very sad and I hope she doesn't succeed. However, if she does that might give Spector another reason for revenge (in his sick mind). This is a series worth of story stretched out over 3 series. I think it borders on nordic noir parody now and should be put to rest. |

And given the nature of the crimes he is accused of, surely they would assign a male nurse to handle his care, not an attractive female that I'm all for suspending disbelief but this part bears a resemblance to his past victims? of the story is just silly.

They cannot have an armed police person in the room with him. Not happen in real life, they are stationed outside the room and in this case the ICU. Every police show always has them outside, Paul is considered to be in very ill health and not capable of attacking anyone. When they move him he will have a guard.
The children are no doubt already dead from the overdose, she put two full packets into their milk. I thought she was just waiting for the tide to come in and cover the car. |

The one flaw for me in an otherwise excellent set of series is Paul Spector: I am willing to be contradicted, but I do believe a man so thoroughly disturbed as to obsessively draw the pictures etc quite apart from the murders would be a reclusive loner, not the family man and doting father Spector is shown as.

It's got very silly and embarrassing. That nurse and the bedside chat about a near death experience...
Utterly risible

I think he's faking. In the episode Gibson said the murders were planned and staged so I reckon the amnesia was a pre-thought plan in the eventuality of being caught and if circumstances dictated - and luckily for him they did. He would have had the time to learn and memorise past details like the fact that Tony Blair was PM at the time, FB existed but Twitter didn't.

I think that's her intention, but I don't think she'll go through with it. It would be a bit grim if she did kill herself and the children, even by The Fall's standards. Guess we'll see next week.

its certainly possibly Spectar is faking it, but I suspect I would be fooled. The hospital stuff is a bit odd, and whilst im sure having a named nurse for a patient is best medical practice, it is not best practice in this situation, certainly not one so clearly his "type".
It is however good to see episode 3, finally comes good on the set up of episode 1 and 2, and produce a good episode, that furthers the plot in a more meaningful way, UK shows are so short run, that they cant afford to waste the first 2 episodes on set up, like this series has. |

I'm really enjoying the slow pace of this; the big question is he faking the memory loss? I'm undecided but if he thought he was an OK guy as he said, he would be more shocked and horrified at being told he had committed all these murders. I was fully anticipating a rapid increase in blood pressure, hyperventilating etc etc but he seemed to remain pretty calm. That leads me to be more inclined he's faking it.

So his memory loss might well be real but he knows he is a murderer which is why he isn't shocked at the idea. |

E3. Well, that was pretty epic for me. It lifted this drama up a level - outstanding in so many ways.
To say it got darker this hour would be an understatement, and literally as I can't remember seeing a drama when there were only, was it two? , scenes in natural daylight, and continuity scenes at that (outside the courthouse). Nor so many scenes in close up, nor of so many scenes in close up of such a range of characters; this is very confident filming by Cubbitt, and wonderful acting. The close ups feel ... almost as if violating personal space at times. I'd even start dishing out BAFTA nominations for the incidental music and lighting - it feels like everyone is putting in their very best performance. Anyway, the story .. for a while it seemed like the battle was only going to be with the psychologist but we're now looking at a younger Spector, in London, with a rather different MO - a very nice twist; by his own admission, his (bogus) amnesia only dates to 2006: BOOM! - gotcha (well, eventually, a lot of twists and turns first). Before that revelation I was pondering the fact his daughter had spoken to him in the tunnel (as told to Kira) and whether a 2-year old (as he claims to know her) would have the vocab .. This was the quickest, most engrossing hour of drama this year for me. Glad to see a whole slew of actors getting a big scene (Rose alone was epic, Kira also). Cubbitt knows his onions in that sense, as well. |
