Have to admit that last scene in the interview room where Paul slowly realised that they had him was perfect!

I'm firmly in the camp that he's lying about the memory loss to try and get away with the murders or at least get a lesser sentence. Once he found out the police had not only found his lock up but could also connect him to a murder earlier than the memory loss his whole demeanour changed.

What about the warden? He reacted when that boy's home was mentioned> Perhaps he or one of his relatives was the one that was picked by Spector to be his successor?

That would be an amazing co-incidence. Of all the mental joints in all the towns in all the world you had to work at mine.

why did Eric Cantona get all emotional when he was telling Merlin about the info that Spector and the other boys were sexually abused ? was he there ? it seemed like he was ashamed of something

He was the Police Officer in charge of the investigation and arrest of the Priest who ran the home.

Do you mean John Lynch?

I imagine because it was a pretty bad case for him. Investigating the crimes that went on at that foster home would probably take its toll on anybody and talking about it would be upsetting. He is also clearly on a downward spiral and is drinking more and more. I think he also feels guilty and responsible for Sally and what she did to her children.

His line to Stella in a previous episode 'I only ever wanted to protect those children!' seemed (to me) to be related to something more than what had just happened with the car. My guess would be the foster home case (perhaps several past cases).

Now whether he is actually guilty of something or simply feels that he failed in some way to help those children sooner - who knows? I can't quite decide if he is a cop who has just seen too much and this case has pushed him over the edge, or if some past wrong-doing (linked to a child/children) is haunting him.

Ginger Nut will suggest a way (some homosexual act) that Spector can earn some money to give to the guards for shopping as they discussed.

Spector will be so repulsed he will attack Ginger Nut but his one-one guard will intervene and Spector will die somehow. This might happen before trial or after he's found guilty and returns to Foyle Clinic briefly before they decided where he'll serve his sentence. Either way, Spector will evade justice.

Soap characters who are leaving are always said to be getting an 'explosive ending'. it's just a standard phrase for death and/or disaster, usually!

There had to be a reason this oddball suddenly appears and starts talking to Spector right near the end of this series. He's a plot device for something nasty no doubt.

Lol. I love that 'his one guard' bit.. Just like the hospital had only one nurse and no one guarding him while he was allowed to wander round said hospital like he was a VIP visitor.

Ireland clearly doesn't bother much when dealing with what they used to call a 'homicidal maniac' I'm amazed he doesn't just walk out when he feels like it!

Dornan said in an interview about this series that the trial is not shown yet which I took there to be another series.

I hope not this has dragged on for me. Tonight had better be good

I'm surprised she's not as badly hurt as I thought she'd be. That was quite a shocking scene.

Finally some action! Don't know why that psychiatrist took him through a locker room, seems obvious Spector's going to access that

Would they put him back there after that? I'd have thought a padded cell would be in order.

Of course they wouldn't - but as many of the hospital scenes concerning Spector have been silly beyond belief that is just par for the course.
