Why? he died the same way his victims did
No he didn't. They didn't have a choice.

He knows how they felt, he tried to grab the belt towards his final seconds

Stuck with that until the bitter end but only because the Grauniad wasn't doing proper recaps (which I usually rely on for "shows where I want to know what happens without actually watching").

I don't mind slow moving shows at all but this was ridiculous.

I'm guessing he committed suicide after being told he had to do a 50 Shades of Grey sequel?

Sorry I couldn't resist...

I can't help but feel dissatisfied that justice wasn't done but I wonder if that is the point as in some murderers killing themselves prior to a trial like Fred West did.

So if that was the point its job done.

Why is Lynch is resigning?
Cantona resigned? Why? Please don't say it was because of ... something along the lines of 'we shouldn't have let this happen and it's my fault it did'?

That would be a bit lame after episodes of Spector being in a ward next to his latest victim, no armed guards anywhere ... and of course being allowed to wander round like he was a VIP visitor!

I assume it was because he raped and murdered his sister

Or even because he'd have had to do another series of The Fall when it should have all been done and dusted after 2 series at the most!

Hmm, good question. As it was happening I was thinking the latter. It looked as if he broke Ginger's arm too, which was significant.

So .. Gibson was beaten by a very strong man and is at work the next day .. Really!

What sort of place was that that someone who is mentally disturbed and attacks a police woman and then is let free to roam without a thought that he may attack again Should he not have been locked in confinement ?

All that money spent on fixing him and he goes on to killer and also maim another and killers himself and Gibson gets a well done

So glad there is not another series but gutted Gibson was not killed

I'm guessing that death is a 'better' alternative because most killers like Spector or West are addicted to what they do. In fiction or in reality, it is a compulsion that needs to be satisfied. Perhaps the prospect of years, decades ahead of them where that compulsion can never be satisfied again is too much to contemplate. So as a last demonstration of their 'power' they kill themselves. I'd like to say that they're cowards talking the easy way out but I'm not convinced that suicide is easy...

-------------------------

Good ending. We got the details of what drove Spector to be the killer he became. I thank the gods we didn't have a long, drawn out trial with a slippery lawyer trying to get Spector off on a technicality and I'm glad that Stella's dream diaries didn't get picked apart in court and therefore in the press. And if there is a series 4, we don't have to suffer more Spector.

Felt sorry for Wallander man... but really, the security, staffing and procedures certainly need to be tightened up.

As far as I remember Paul didn't sexually abuse his victims. One of his victims was pregnant and Paul sent a letter stating "children are innocents". I think it has more to do with the fact the inmate abused his kid sister and Paul resonates with his inmates victim.

50/50 episode to me. Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan's performances have been outstanding and I have really enjoyed Stella and Paul's storylines but I feel cheated/let down. Paul committing suicide was the easy way out and he deserved to rot in prison for the rest of his life. I knew he was faking his amnesia and realistically there was no way he could get off scot-free from his crimes. The last scene of Stella alone in the house was sad to watch but she is a very complex woman who has unresolved issues.

Goodbye The Fall. I will miss watching the TV series but I hope it's not the end of Stella Gibson for good. I heard rumours about a potential follow up TV series about her one day.

it was noticed by an officer that he'd been drinking at work so I think he jumped before he was pushed,

I think he set up the fight as a distraction, then hid in ginger inmate's room, as he knew the guards would lock him in, therefore affording him time to kill himself.

I'm just thankful he didn't escape. Really couldn't handle another series.

Yes. She was self harming with a bone from her stew! Stella had a deep, meaningful with her afterwards.
