i did watch series 1 and 2 i have just forgot most of it now for me last night it was too violent didnt expect it i might have to rewatch when i get some time i thought it had ended by the end of series 2 and i think it really should have the first episode of series 3 was like watching casualty for me which i dont watch because too much blood did we really need to see all that and i couldnt watch kept looking away i think stella's was right he was over taken by rage and anger for the world i suppose i wanted him to got to prison or maybe someone else kill him for me he had too much control over his own death

It's interesting how we perceive things differently. I'm definitely not saying you are wrong but I didn't see those scenes as sad. I just saw them as a quiet contrast between all that had happened in Dublin and a return to a place of calm, Stella's haven even. Yes there were dead flowers but she'd also bought a replacement bunch en route. She dropped her stuff (cases, shopping) around and about and settled down in the kitchen with a glass of wine and time to consider what had happened and to begin to take her life back from Spector, Cantona, etc.

Were the scenes necessary...? probably not, but I quite liked the sense of Stella returning to 'normal' - whatever normal is. A lot of tense series finish off with a few minutes of characters getting back to the office, having some downtime and banter and that rounds off the episode and characters. In Stella's case, it's just her and a glass of red.

Sensational viewing and a wonderful ending. Series 3 had a few flaws but it's been a wonderful viewing experience all the way through

Stella Gibson is one of the most fascinating characters I have ever seen on a television show, especially a crime drama. These days, lead female characters in crime shows always seem to be tragic heroines with their heart on their sleeves. Stella was the total opposite and broke the mould.

Bravo to all involved.

I'd love it if they cast David Duchovny for series 4 to play her new partner on a new case and basically turned it into The X Files.

My thoughts on series 3... well, my word, this is a bleak TV show. The theme of the series seemed to be that even when Spector is trapped and incarcerated, he can still have a devastating effect on those around him. There is something mesmerising about the whole thing. I do enjoy the way it's put together, even if at times there are some strange moments like how Spector was left to walk around freely even after attacking Gibson and co.

I also wanted a shot of the ICU nurse after it had emerged what Paul had done. Would have been nice to see her reaction.

Good to watch it to see how the case affected Stella.


Even better if he played another killer she was assigned to chase.

Loved both Jamie and Gillian in this. Both were really mesmerising performances and multi-layered characters. Think Im being a bit thick though, what was on the slip of paper she pinned to the board at the end? Anyone notice ?

It was the money Spector dropped outside the institution. It said "he that loves not abides in death".

It was the £20 note that the ICU Nurse had given Spector (and which Stella had picked up after Spector threw it away).

I wouldn't say that he outplayed her as ultimately he was driven to take his own life because he knew she had him cornered ,that's why he lost it in the cell as he couldn't stand the fact that she had seemingly won their battle of wits/control.

In the end i think what i sensed is there were no winners ,in a sense they both lost as Spector forced into taking his own life as only way out,Stella because he cheated her of the ultimate prize of seeing him jailed for his crimes, it was a grim and compelling finish

Watched it all, enjoyed it but then I asked myself what actually happened in series 3.

Spector recovered from his wounds and committed suicide before he could be tried. We had some insight into how his behaviour had damaged people who had survived coming into his orbit. That's about it.

So it's a terrific bit of TV-making to spin that out into six hours.

Like other people I did wonder why a man accused of such violent crimes against women would have been left more or less on his own with a young, attractive female nurse! and have hardly any supervision when he was at the Institute. At one point I thought it would be revealed that the nurse was a long lost sister as she also seemed to be over-stepping boundaries with her questions to him about his background.

Just watched this week's two final episodes back to back. Brilliant ending to a very slow season. I think it was inevitable that he was going to explode like that eventually. I did have to avert my eyes several times. Very weak stomach for that sort of thing

Sorry that Specter managed to evade justice in the end.

Stella's flowers died whilst she was away, but it's okay she got some new ones. That was a relief

Hell of a cliffhanger though. I hope there's a series 4 so we'll get to find out if any of her utilities were cut off due to her not paying the bills. I really wanted to get the chance to see her open all of her post
