I have no idea how he achieved that look but it absolutely genuinely terrified me.

It was truly chilling. And JD seems much a nice, mild-mannered chap in real life too.

A superb series. Well done to all involved. The writing, direction and acting were all perfect. Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson really stole the show. I thought it would end with Paul committing suicide, but the ending was still so effective. I loved that final lingering scene with Stella back at her house as well - I read it as her trying to contemplate how to even move on from a case that has physically and emotionally shattered her.

Thanks for the ride of 3 series - what I loved about this whole show is that it was not afraid to take its time with telling the story. I loved the long lingering scenes with different characters, and the music too. It made it so atmospheric and all the more chilling.

Fantastic series, all 3 were brilliant. It was so sad to see the fall out after what he'd done to his poor family, we didn't really need to see poor SallyAnn, it was enough to see his daughter in care, so we can assume the rest, no happy ending for his poor wife or kids. I thought the end was building to an escape, I was thinking no way, now it's goona lead to series 4 'the recapture', which would've been an awful way to go. I really wasn't expecting the suicide at the end to be honest, so he won in the end he went his way without being made to pay, and even pulled tongues at them all as he went as a final gesture :P

Anyone posted The Guardian's review yet?

Well, it's here.

I mainly agree with it. Huge comedown from series 1.

Guardian review ? Yes we've seen it now read,
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2016/1...a-brutal-fina/ for a much more informed opinion .
On the whole in here and elsewhere I think we've had opinions of people who didn't understand what this drama was about and those who did .

I wish they would get over series 1. I don't think comparing it to the first series is fair

Just finished watching - wow!

I think the ending was right really. I'm glad we found out more about what happened in the children's home - Colin Morgan really impressed me in that interview, as well as the actor playing David.

So, if you didn't enjoy it you it you didn't understand it?

I always /facepalm when people claim they 'understood' a programme , there should be a name for this kind of opinion 'cos it does get trotted out quite a lot when people disagree about whether said show was any good .

My experiences in life have led me to believe that some people would rather rubbish something than admit the real reason is that they don't understand it . Not saying that's it in all cases.

Well I've just watched last episode and wished I'd skipped the other 5,what a long drawn out boring load of twaddle.Gillian Andesons character was awful with her whispering voice and whistful gazing it should have finished with the second series IMO,Try watching The Missing for a gripping drama.

considering that, that is basically how my Dad killed himself (over 10 years ago) it was intense viewing.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine the consequences for you and others in his family

Was Spector's end ambiguous; did he suffocate himself like one of his victims, or did he hang himself as his mother had ..

he did it alone in a caravan, not in a prison (of any kind), and it was not a total shock, but yes I dont know if I would have wanted to watch it going in.

Would you say he wanted to experience both? The last gasp and the moment of death?

I thought the final scene with Stella back in London, alone, sipping on her wine, continuing in her own sweet way was on the money.

I hope we haven't seen the last of her.

I agree. It was a brilliant 3 series. Personally I enjoy watching the whole story, not just a car chase and arrest at the end. This was a painstaking unpicking of a complex situation, and showed how difficult it is to get a conviction in these cases. I do hope Stella returns with a new case. A refreshing change from the majority of crime dramas.
