Oh boy. I liked the final series, especially the ending, but statements like this make me cringe. No-one's impressed that you 'got' it.

I enjoyed the final 2 parter but i was genuinely shocked he killed himself. I actually thought he was going to escape especially when they showed the car keys of the doctor bloke. then when Spector knocked him out i was sure he was going to get the keys and go.

Fabulous series though and a few shock moments in that final episode especially when he attacked Stella.

Some poeople enjoyed the series others didn't. Just because someone did not enjoy it does not mean they didn't understand. We're hear to discuss a programme not to diagnose the people watching it.

What superb drama,and acting of a very high quality.

Another thing I'm eternally grateful for is that the three series almost totally ignored the Troubles. It could have become yet another masturbatory grief-fest about the usual crap in Northern Ireland, but it wasn't.

Someone thinking they're superior due to 'understanding' a BBC drama...priceless. If they were that smart they'd be more interested in a book than looking down on others and watching quite common themes on a TV show.

Cerebral ? There's more "exploration of the human psyche" in an eplsode of Peppa Pig than the entire third series of this twaddle. It would have been OK as a simple serial killer thriller, but let's not make it out to be something it wasn't. It's like saying "Silence of The Lambs" was some kind of study of the human condition.

I thought it was good, I like how he killed himself and we can think of two motives for that.

I feel it is poised for another series, maybe more.
I will definitely watch Scully on the trail of the goth-girl and other loose ends.
There's only one thing that puzzled me : why the boss cop eyebrow bloke got all drunk and shakey about the boy's home stuff : more to discover about him next series?

One sees the same attitude in much other drama when the writer has failed to tie up key plotlines either out of carelessness/laziness or because they think it is clever to fail to do so. There is always a section of the audience who claim it was brilliantly artistic and that those who don't understand lack intelligence when in reality the emperor has no clothes.

Or there again perhaps some people simply could follow the plot lines and appreciated the complex and insightful writing?

I thought it was plodding a bit until the final episode. Stella's whispery dialogue was starting to do my head in.

There was a vague political subplot in S1 but thankfully was quickly forgotten.
