Dyer's cockney talk as clumsy as Dick Van Dyke!
Does anyone else think the random use of cockney slang from Mick Carter is as false as Dick in Mary Poppins?
This week we have had to contend with "swede" "minces" and "butchers". While translating some of theses expressions I lose the tread of the conversation. Buster and Stan are/were both Londoners yet didn't pepper their talk with cockney slang. Is it the script writers or Danny freestyling?

Yes Danny Dyer invents his own scripts on the spot.
Authentic? Why do people struggle to accept Dyer is actually a born and bred Cockney? He's not putting it on for an act. |

he tries too hard to make the show more authentic. (IMO) A good actor would not have to born in the East end, to make a believable cockney.

My family, going back generations came from the Eastend, and, I'm a born and bred Eastender, but, can assure you that the slang is not used to the ridiculous extent as used by the script writers in Eastenders. My old dad, on occasions, may use the odd phrase now and again, but, EE writers seem to have to keep making Danny Dyer use rhyming slang in every sentence to convince us it's the Eastend. I find it embarrassing to watch sometimes. Anyway, must go up them old apple and pears and shut me mince pies as ive got an early start in morning.
