So its unlikely I will have a problem with clearance with the brackets I have linked too?

So how many of these M6x12 should I get do you think? Are these the correct ones?

I've only had a problem with a large VGA plug with a thick stiff cable. But a bit of brute force and ignorance worked wonders Most normal cables should be OK. And the TV may well have a number of it's connectors on the side panel anyway so the bracket will have no impact on those.

The M6 screws are to secure the bracket mounts to the TV. There are four holes in the back of the telly so you only need 4. They may well be included with the bracket. A review on the Amazon link you posted above shows a picture of the contents of the box. It includes a number of TV mounting screws. So you might not need any additional screws.

Thanks so much for the replies. I am getting a handman to fit the mount to the wall and he will attach the TV to it to check the TV fits ok. He will then take off the TV as I need the TV for something else for a few days. SO what I need to know is how easy will it be for me to attach the TV back onto the mount on the wall?

From what you have implied about your capabilities on this thread I suggest you get the handyman back to remount the TV.

you will need 4 screws for attaching the TV to the bracket and as I mention the bracket may come with them.

Look I am not being funny, but do you have a friend / relative / neighbor who can physically come round and advise you ? When you are asking questions like how many screws you need for attaching the TV to the bracket and you can see 4 screw holes on the back of the TV then you are either winding us up or really need somebody to come in and sort this out for you, and not some mickey mouse handy man who is telling you to get the parts.

I have found out the wall I want to mount the TV on is plasterboard and I was wondering exactly what I will need to make sure it will stay attached to the wall. I am getting a different handyman out and I am sure he will have parts with him but just incase he doesnt I want to have them anyhow. SO if anyone can advise me and provide me with some ebay/amazon links that would be great.

I have told you at least twice, and I'm sure chrisjr has mentioned it too, you don't mount the TV bracket on the the plasterboard only. Put very simply... IT WILL FALL OFF. It doesn't matter what type of screws you use, if all they're attached to is the plasterboard itself then it will end in disaster. If this message hasn't sunk in by now then you're not competent to start asking about screw types.

You are employing someone to do the job. It is their responsibility to have the necessary tools and parts to carry out the job that you are paying them to perform. So forget about buying bits that the person you are employing should be providing themselves.

Fair enough you provide the actual bracket but everything else is up to the handyman. If he is telling you to buy extra parts then tell him to shove his screwdriver where the sun don't shine and find someone more competent.

Such advice can be very misleading without knowing the precise arrangement between the OP and his handyman. There are plenty who work on the basis of providing labour and tools only and charge by the hour. Also not unreasonable for him to assume the bracket supplied by the OP comes with fixings (most do although not necessarily the right ones for difficult locations). No doubt he would be happy to go and buy some but the extra labour cost for doing that could be far more than the fittings cost.

I note that you have changed your location, as noted by Chris Frost in post #9, from Fair Isle to Scotland. Does this mean you live in a populated area with proper skilled tradesmen available? If so use them as you, by your own admission, have no skills and employing some cheap bodger will probably end in tears.

Any half way decent trades person should carry a range of fixings in their van ready for any unexpected situation. They shouldn't really expect someone with no knowledge or skill to be able to provide everything that could possibly be needed. After all if the person employing the handy man had that knowledge and skill he wouldn't be employing the handy man in the first place.
