Same here. Found her completely awful as a character and that drug rape storyline was one of Brookside's most badly executed storylines!

Another Brookside character I would add is Sammy Rogers. Mainly after watching her 1996 stint, she is constantly shouting, and blaming others for things SHE has actually caused.

With apologies to 99% of Corrie viewers who seem to revere her as some sort of Corrie Goddess, Mavis bloody Riley/Wilton!!
Her 20+ years of eternal dithering & ludicrous storylines of two equally dithering & annoying blokes fighting for her affections annoyed the living crap out of me & I found her neither funny , likeable nor entertaining!!!

Wow!!! Very harsh words about my all time favourite soap character!
Sally is a brilliant character, she is the ultimate soap heroine! She led a tragic life and kept bouncing back and all played brilliantly by an amazing actress!
Each to their own though, if we all had the same opinions the world would be a boring place!

Adam Best from EE, spiteful beyond belief!

Nessa Lockhead from Eldorado, she came across as a bit of a busybody and her voice really grated.

Hilary and Aunt Edie from Neighbours, always sticking their noses in where they weren't wanted.

That woman whose name I can't recall who dropped her towel in front of Jim in Neighbours (and Todd and Katie too iirc), so whiney and annoying.

The whole Simpson clan were middle-class stereotypes - Ineffectual Guardian-reader Dad, snobbish Mum badgering Ron Dixon because his shop didn't sell high-end foodstuffs, coquettish daughter, smarmy know-it-all youngster and, of course, Nat, a weak youth who still seemed boring even after it emerged he was...you know with his own sister.

And there was the other problem - The whole point of their introduction to Brookside Close was the incest storyline. It was just so ill-conceived, the whole thing.

BIB- I thought I was the only person who didn't like Sally - I'm so glad I'm not.

I wonder if Sally'd be so revered if she wasn't an original character. It's like Michelle Fower in EE - she was a miserable, surly. annoying madam but so many EE fans say she was brilliant, she's untouchable because she was an original character.

THAT family pretty much ruined the Soap IMO, they tried so hard to out-do The Jordache saga but failed miserably, and another mistake was making the family as you said ''Middle Class Stereotypes''! It didn't work for The Harrisons!

Mary on Corrie - the most annoying, pointless, unfunny, badly written character I think I have ever seen. There is NOTHING funny about mental health issues yet for some reason we are all supposed to find her hilarious. Cannot STAND her.

The thing is, Sally is Summer Bay and I don't think the show has recovered since her departure. She was the longest serving female, living in the main house. Kate was hugely popular in Australia at the time won five Logies in the space of three years. I think Kate will be back within the next year, the 30th at the very latest, and the Bay will be a much better place with her back!

I still don't like Sally regardless of all that. I watched H&A right from the beginning and I've never liked her. I've stopped watching now that the awful Morgans are in it and if Sally does return it will be another reason to keep away from it.
