I quite liked it. Jazzfm at night had a programme that used to play all that chillout/lounge music it was great

Nope not for me, I kept wondering when it would start! Relaxing music for me is some John Barry or soulful/deep House music.
I would be interested to know who constitutes "the more mature audio listener" because as a 53 year-old I would struggle to find anything more tedious to listen to. To me it is the musical equivalent of watching paint dry...

As a 46 year old, I'm inclined to agree.
I'm 52 and also agree. I grew up with punk and disco, amongst other genres, so that kind of muzak does nothing for me.
