I don't care if it's staged (as it always has been and yes, IMO, to this extent) - tonight's show was great.
In fact, this whole series is a real return to form for me personally. Not gonna float everyone's boat but it's my favourite panel since 2010 and the changes to the format have just really worked IMO. It's just put together so well this time round and is real fun to watch again.
Really good entertainment this year and it's so nice to see the show not only being compassionate rather than nasty, but generally not taking itself too seriously. I loved Simon saying to Louis: "this is what you brought back to the show?" and Louis shrugging and saying "yeah, ratings!"
Lots of fun moments, moving moments, a great panel and decent production and editing. It's got its heart back and still just takes the piss with the editing, but in a playful way. I find suspending disbelief and just rolling with the production has always been the way to enjoy this show, and its delivered in spades for me this year.
Obviously people will disagree (I look forward to the deluge of moaners) but I'm sure I'm not alone in being really quite happy The X Factor I know and love is finally back. This will be the first series in a long time where I don't miss an episode, I think.
