It's just a shame so many talented people get booted at Bootcamp

I agree - those two along with Honey G are the reason I take X factor with a pinch of salt. It would be nice if they were genuinely looking for talent, but all they care about is "good TV". I didn't mind Chico and Jedward, but the joke's wearing a bit thin these days.
I think that the joke acts were better before they became an annual thing for the lives.

I think Honey G is on the wrong side of the line between novelty act and joke act. There are plenty of unconventional acts that don't fit in the mainstream, but they have some underlying talent.

There isn't really time to show everyone. If they tried we'd have no idea who anyone was when judges houses started.

It's a tough industry. People say they feel bad for the cut acts every year but they don't actually go search them out and buy their music. Why not? Well, because being a passable singer isn't actually that hard and good technical singing alone doesn't actually do much for the average person compared to putting on a memorable performance, or standing for something new culturally, or connecting emotionally, or even just being hot.

This is generally true across many art forms. The top rock musicians are not necessarily the most technically proficient. The top painters are not the most photorealistic. Etc.

I know what you're saying, but novelty acts get mistreated on this show and get turned into joke acts, the same thing could be happening with Honey G and Cosmic Riot to be fair to both of them, we'll never know because they'll never be given a chance to be remotely serious.

I really do not want to see any novelty or comedy acts on what is supposed to be a show for finding talented artists. Roll on for when The Voice starts.

The Voice is pretty exploitative. The setup is even more about boosting the judges' profiles than X-Factor. It rounds up a bunch of singers who never quite broke through and uses them for 3 months of advertising profit, doing virtually nothing for their careers and avoiding real constructive feedback in favor of slapping a big smiley face on everything.

The Voice does have its flaws with too many former artists being featured, but at least the show is actually about singing, which XF is most certainly not.

The Voice is not about mainstream chart success (hence why different types of singers and song choices are allowed in that franchise) they get tour deals and independent labels spot them for their performances on the show and sign them up.

Imo The Voice is having the more diverse performances nowadays, the only one I thought that they mistreated in the last series was Lyrickal because Rappers are gonna find it hard to standout on a Saturday Teatime show tbf.
