That's Linda's whole 'thing' as a character, being an overbearing mum. It's not really a new development.

Not sure if I'm imagining this but the show feels different to me today. Don't get me wrong. It's not stand out quality at all but it feels a lot more natural. The camera angles have been different. The dialogue feels how people would naturally talk and it's been quite witty. Just a nice everyday episode with some very stark subtleties such as how Pam and Les were both conveying emotion differently when wiping the table. I'm really enjoying it for some reason.
