Android experts, look in
I'm getting rather pissed off at my work phone, it's an S5 running 6.0.1.
How do I apply separate notification tones to apps? The major one giving me a problem is the Google app, it's taken to sending random google notifications every so often which notify with my text message alert. Going into the maze of settings I've so far found Application manager -> Google app -> notifications, but it seems that this version of Android only allows a on/off, so it's either put up with text message tone or completely shut down all types of notification (messages, sounds, notification bar, vibrate) for the app. This seems rather counterintuitive for the "openness" of android. Am I missing something? |

Under Settings > Notifications > App Notifications > Google App > App Settings I have the option to toggle notifications on/off and then under Priority Notifications I have the option to set the notification tone and toggle on/off vibration. |

Just checked on the one device I still have running 6.0.1
Under Settings > Notifications > App Notifications > Google App > App Settings I have the option to toggle notifications on/off and then under Priority Notifications I have the option to set the notification tone and toggle on/off vibration. http://s21.postimg.org/m81efcv93/IMG_4011.png Ah well, it'll just have to be all notifications off... |

I'm still on Android 5.1 and can't see any way of doing this through the OS settings, it would make sense to have the ability to set a sound to override the system default notification sound in the 'App Notifications' screen.
Some apps allow notification sounds to be set but can't see anything like this in Google's settings. There's an app called MegaSound which seems to do what you want but the first review says it doesn't work on Android 6.0 and it has not been updated since December 2014. Can't see any similar apps. EDIT: This also may be worth a look: NotifierPro Heads-up at £2.64. |

It's ok, I fixed it by having a mini-tantrum and having the phone swapped for an alternative without such stupid foibles...
Problem now gone. |

Problem now gone. I just looked at my Z5 and where you see 'Hide sensitive Content', i have App Setting below where i can change the tone. I was going to say make sure you had the app on the latest version, but to late now! |
