Shelf life soap characters

What soap characters past and present are brought in but it's only a matter of time before they leave the show? (e.g cos they're villains, etc.)

I'll get the ball rolling with

Past:
Callum Logan (coronation street)- he was meant to be a villain so right off the bat his time on the show wouldn't last long but if he had of been just a cheeky charmer sort of character, who wasn't a piece of scum, I think he would of lasted longer. Making Callum a wannabe gangster drug dealing thug limited his time on the show cos he was the baddie who everyone hated. Being like that there was no way he could of stayed on the show longer than a yr. The role of menacing villain did not suit him at all!

Present:
Phelan (coronation street)- I absolutely hate the character so am glad he has a limited time on the show. He will hopefully be killed in the next few months in a whodunnit. Like Callum, he is a baddie so there is no way he will last much longer (Yay!)

I also think that when Kylie became a killer she had a shelf life. She was not capable of murder, even self defence. That was a big mistake, the writers backed her in a corner, it was game over for her. FFS I still don't get why they didn't make Denton kill Callum maybe they wouldn't of killed her off if Denton had killed him. But on the other hand I don't get why they turned Callum into a drug dealing wannabe gangster thug, swaggering about, like I said above, it didn't suit him

Emmerdale:
Pierce- Obviously, he is completely deranged and he is only with Rhona to get at Paddy. When she realises I can see him going in psycho mode. Probably won't last past Christmas.
Emma- They have teased her unstable side a few times and when she finds out about James and Moira she will flip big time. I would be surprised if she is still on the show this time next year.

That's difficult to answer. It's not all about being villainous and needing a comeuppance thus having a shelf life. Other factors such as their history on the show and the fans reaction play a big part. For example if NuBiRob had been a new character and had no history on the show, I'd say he would have died in the shooting last year. I'd say:
Aunt Babe
Emma Barton
Lachlan White
Pierce
Nico Blake
Cameron Campbell

But all of these are villainous characters needing their comeuppance aren't they? Four of them are definitely.

Coronation St

Caz
Phelan
Vinny

Emmerdale

Pierce
Emma

Yeah I know, what I meant was being villainous doesn't necessarily mean a character has a shelf life. For example Phil Mitchell and Robert Sugden are villainous but dont really have a shelf life, as annoying as it is. Out of curiosity which two of the characters I mentioned do you think aren't villainous

As much as I love her both as a character and actress: Aubt Babe.

She's such a great villian but I can't see them realistically have them brushing aside her actions for much longer. I'd say it's one axing that is good for the character as are Ronnie and Roxy's who have ran their course. All the other axings In EE recently I don't agree with. They all have alot more potential to stay.
