Nah!! He did it because he saw it as a challenge & a bit of fun!! He didn't give two sh*ts about Marcus as he demonstrated when as soon as he had got him he buggered ofg with someone else leaving Marcus with nothing!!
The whole s/l was crap anyway as there is mo way on this earth that Marcus, the character he was would have treated Maria that way!! He would have sat her down & let her down gently!!
Crazy assassination of a great character just cos they needed an exit s/l for him!!

But if you remember Todd told Marcus he did it for him, maybe Todd just got bored after awhile and that is why he cheated on Marcus.

All three are planning on scamming each other, I suspect.

You couldn't trust any of the three of them but it'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Of course he is, it's so predictable. Todd needs a "redemption" and this is it or else he'd be ostracised from the street if he straight-out swindled everyone.

Yeah & Marcus believed him just about as much as I did at the time, plus he barely had time to get bored before he cheated as I recall, but like I say the whole thing was unbelievable & a massive cop out by the Corrie writers because after the initial headline grabber of a gay man falling for a woman they then didn't have the imagination to make a story out of it, leading to Charlie Condou deciding to quit!!

I thought I had read somewhere that the reason they did the Maria/Marcus story was because Charlie Condou and Anthony Cotton couldn't stand each other and were causing division in the cast so they broke up Sean and Marcus and put Marcus with Maria.

Seems in both cases he is blaming the lack of action for his character!!
Not buying the Mirror article blaming it on Samia doing Dancing on Ice, that was 10 weeks max I think & basically they were pretty much off screen all year in 2013!!

Maybe that was the article I'm not sure TBH. Was Marcus every really that big of a a character? To me he was of a secondary character so I don't see why Charlie felt he wasn't getting enough airtime.

I reckon Eileen / Jason will not lose out financially.

Yeah you see this is where we differ!! I hate all this talk of main characters & secondary characters! All characters are big characters while they're in a big storyline & for whatever the reason the Marcus/Maria storyline started off as a biggie then just faded to absolutely nothing & as Charlie says his character was barely onscreen throughout 2013 when the storyline only began in earnest in October 2012!!
They went to a lot of trouble to build it up beforehand, throughout most of 2012, both actors seemed well up for doing it then once they got the big headline out of the way....nothing to speak of!!
What went on or what the reasons were I don't know but I can fully understand why he felt a bit let down & decided the screentime he was getting didn't warrant the time he was spending away from his family!!
I do hope we see him back on the Cobbles sometime in the future!!

Oh ok, I started watching at the end of 2012 so I came in on the middle of that story. You know maybe the problem was there was the producer switch over and Blackburn felt it wasn't that important of a story. I really don't blame him to me Maria needs to be left in the background.
