It could be Get Ready as in get ready, get set, go. Although the last time we had a contest with a running track they were the first eliminated.

I thought the song choices would be a bit more directly related to the day job/nationality/etc, like they have been in the past few years. There are some pretty obvious choices like Tameka and Gorka doing the Paso, and Dorien dancing to BOAF theme. But, overall, I'm pleased that we won't be seeing Ed Balls doing Great Balls of Fire or Greg jiving to one of the numerous songs with "jump" in the title.

(I am obviously speaking too soon as we haven't seen the routines yet. Oksana pleading "mercy" to Judge Rinder springs to mind.)

Wha-a-a-t! Without even trying:
Kara&Artem's to Cry Me A River,
Colin&Erin's to Me & My Shadow (my all time fave dance EVAH)
MICHAEL&NATALIE!
Alison&Aljaz to Wuthering Height's (ok not my fave- but it is Monkseal's...)
Natalie&Artem's totes emosh to And I am Telling You
Jason&Kristina's (didn't esp like it, but I can't forget it) Singing in the Rain

And then with a bit more thought-
Matt&Flavia's to For Once In My Life,
Austin&Erin (can't recall to what, but it was s/t classy and I loved it),
Patrick&Anya (again- can't recall, but it was s/t classy and big band-y and I loved it)
Anita&Gleb's crab-dance...

And now I'm off to Youtube to remind myself of lots of others I've enjoyed. Oh the hardship...

Pleased with Laura and Daisy's Week 1 dances and really love their song choices.

Ore and Joanne's Tango is an exciting prospect but I'm not convinced about the music.

My girls are gonna love that Claudia and AJ are dancing to One Direction and I cannot wait for Anastacia and Brendan dancing to Lady Marmalade

BIB 'It Had To Be You', adored the Strictly band's rendition of the song, that routine and them as a partnership.

Get Ready is surely not a jive? *Much* too slow.

BIB don't speak too soon cos who knows Ed may dance to that if he lasts long enough to do the Jive

Ok with most of the songs and I feel perhaps Cake By The Ocean has been chosen because this year is the last series of BBC showing The Great British Bake Off as Channel 4 have brought it.

You've just reminded me of a 4th - Artem and Natalie's. The other 3 are Colin & Erin (original and best), Brendan and Kelly (Controversial 3rd lift - let's have a 15 minutes discussion about it on ITT) and Artem and Kara (bloody Len).

I can't even recall my beloved Alesha's AS without giving it some serious thought.

I don't think it's a dance that stands out anymore now everything is a 'throw the kitchen sink at it' dance.

Depends on the bpm chosen, same with any tune.

No the rampant crab was their VW AS. The rumba had an illegal lift, Gleb's splits and a Jane Austen text as prop!

Ohhh, Patrick and Anya... 'It had to be yoooooooo, it had to be yoooo, / I wandered around, and finally found the somebody whooooooooo / Could make me be troooo'. All gold and pizazz, and smooth glamour, then jumping on the stairs like Paddington in the rain. Loved it. I love it completely and with ridiculous enthusiasm. They really are my favourite SCD pairing of all time

I am shocked to see a Paso Doble in the first week!

I think overall, some good choices of music.

Curious if the order of the songs listed in BBC Music has any relation to the order of the contestants this weekend......

As they are listed alphabetically by first name/title it tells us nothing. However, I suspect Will, Louise & Claudia will be on the Saturday show.

The BBC Music playlist (as opposed to the blog page) has them in a different order :

Anastacia
Daisy
Tameka
Claudia
Melvin
Danny

Will
Ed
Louise
Greg
Ore
Rinder
Naga
Lesley
Laura

Which probably doesn't mean anything but is somewhat plausible as a running order (although having Greg immediately after Louise, both on jive, would be evil). Admittedly I know some people have already announced what night they're on but I've not kept track of who, so it might be completely wrong.

Ah!

Still recon Will, Louise & Claudia are Saturday material. Possibly Greg, Rob & Daisy for Friday
