ED: Do Dad's Deserve A Second Chance?
FusionFury
22-09-2016
Do you think in Tracey's position that deadbeat dad's deserve a second chance?

I guess it's such a raw subject that many can relate to.. I guess it sometimes works out but you can never get back those lost years, and growing up getting teased at school on parents evenings etc would scar any child...

Depends on the people involved and whether the dad or mum has really changed. From experience they don't change and just expect you to forgive.

Nope no second chance.

I actually know where she is coming from if you can get to mid to late twenties without one why do you suddenly need one?

Does anyone deserve a second chance I suppose it depends on the circumstances and the individuals involved. Clearly in this case Tracy is finally going to relent and dote on her Dad just to be let down so in her case it's a 'no'.

Who in their right mind would want the awful Tracey as a daughter anyway, bad enough that David wants her as a wife.

I am sure Tracy wasn't that bad when she was young. I think she is the way she is due to her daddy issues.

I do think they need address her issues with her mother as well. I think she said something about her mother going off abroad and never coming back.

In Tracy's situation yes, the guy is clearly trying to make up for his past, he knows he made some mistakes and Tracy is acting all holier than though, it wasn't but two years ago that she was using Sam for money and a place to stay. So she should know people can change.

Hmm, the fact that both her mother and her father seemed to abandon her may signify what an awful child she might have been.

I'm not at all sure about this, Mark. He is still telling Vanessa that she is the only one that matters whenever Tracy isn't around. I think his wooiong of Tracy is just to make Vanessa believe he's trying to make amends. He's clearly leeching off of Vanessa, so he needs to keep her onside.

I thought that was only after Tracy told him to drop dead for the 1 billionth time

Was he lying when he told Vanessa that she was the only one who mattered ?

I get the impression that Frank's effort's with Tracy were initially made to appease Vanessa, but now she's screeched at him continually about how he's let her down, and everyone else has seen fit to tell him the same, maybe he's trying to make a genuine effort with her?

Of course I'll be wrong, as they'll inevitably reconcile in time for Tracy's wedding and they'll get on famously for a few weeks until he does something else to pee her off.

Maybe if Frank gets together with
Spoiler
Megan, as the spoilers say he will, Tracy will witness him caring for Eliza and that will bring back all her resentment that he wasn't there for her growing up.

Frankly (ha!) I'm surprised at how quickly Vanessa has come round to adoring Frank, considering that she was the one who supposedly didn't care whether he lived or died when he was in intensive care a few weeks back.

I feel sorry Michael Praed is being wasted on this abysmal storyline. There's only so much of Tracy's banshee-warblings my eardrums can take.

Everything about that vile woman is far in excess of my tolerance level at the moment. She seems to be in every scene. I think I might give Emmerdale a miss for the rest of the week and just catch up using Kwynne's analysis.

I like Tracy and Feel sorry for her. Her dad treated her horribly and I don't think her relationship with her mother is very good ether and I also confused with Vanessa and her Relationship ith her mother.Johhny is a year old and we have not heard about her mother coming to see her Grandson. But Vanessa did say a few months back that her mother was not the martnal type.

Do all Emmerdale dads blatantly favour one child over the other?

Frank favours Vanessa over Tracey
John favours Pete over Ross
Jack favoured Andy over Robert

All Emmerdale dads are crap parents, I feel dads/moms who give preferential treatment to one child are much worse than absent parents.

Don't use dead beat in the same sentence as Dad. You are insulting every father when you do. I suggest If you do you include mother's as well. Why don't you start a thread called deadbeat mother's which is also all inclusive. It's time to treat that word as derogatory and thrown out of our language and treat it with the Contempt it deserves.
