I haven't seen it, so tell me what it's like. From the description "Indian films now have a universal appeal, as a result of which they taste tremendous success in International markets" and from the Bollywood films I have seen they make a refreshing change from the US gun toting violence so often on our screens.

I've seen no indication that this will be in English (subtitled or otherwise), and as such I'm unlikely to be watching.

However I'm also confused why everybody is slagging it off before it has even launched, it's different to every other channel we've got so should be welcomed from a diversity point of view if nothing else. Be grateful it's not another shopping channel!

As for mux, maybe this will be the fourth channel on the local mux that has just been created? I suspect that would cover the vast majority of the Asian community in the UK and more cheaply than even COM8.

Alternatively, Rishtey Europe might move there and Cineplex move into that space on COM7 if they expect it to have wider appeal.

Hmm, only four LCNs left in General Entertainment after this arrives. Where's our consultation DUK? Or are you waiting until the list randomly overflows so you have an excuse to shunt certain channels into their own sections?

Indeed - this confuses me too. Clearly the broadcaster thinks there is a market people who want to watch it, otherwise they wouldn't bother with the expenditure of putting it on DTT.

Annoyingly, you can argue the same about shopping channels. As much as we detest them here, there's clearly a market for them.

However, many people in Britain would no doubt appreciate this channel and good luck to them. I'm all for freedom of choice and catering for all audiences within this country.

Another channel I don't think I will be watching.
Although there are some good channels on Freeview, there is also some crap channels and waste of space part time channels. At times I'm glad I also have BT TV with Youview as well as Netflix.

If this has subtitles I'll probably watch it.

This channel is already on Freesat isn't it? So someone with that platform might know.

When there's a channel you don't want to watch, remember that it is helping to pay for the running of the platform and making it more affordable for those channels you do watch - they might not survive if you could dictate that everything you don't have any interest in should be removed.

Rishtey Cineplex is Viacom related so perhaps it will take airtime from VIVA/5USA+1, although I think they'd be keen to keep 5USA+1 over a much more specialist channel.

Had a look over on satellite this morning and it is testing. The content is as you would expect. But the picture looked awful and looked stretched, at broadcast end, to fit the screen.

Details for those who want a look on satellite......

11.224 H, 27.500, 2/3, DVB-S, QPSK.

"52007"....For 'Rishtey Cineplex'.

I've just had a look on Sky and the current film has in-vision English subtitles (but not during the songs, it seems).

Semingly, they had health warnings on screen, during one of the bits I saw, when someone was smoking. .... Interesting idea.

yep, I'm not a fan of the Asian channels, I would think they can add it to connect online streaming service instead

Rishtey Cineplex launched on Sky on 29th September, their initial information stated "will launch on Freeview a few days later". It now says "sometime in October, subject to Ofcom licence clearance". There are only four days of Otober left, so have they received clearance?
