I think on the face of it, you guys are probably right. Ronnie at her best is a massive loss and regardless of whether or not her recent performances have been lethargic, Samantha Womack is also a massive loss. For many years she was one of the shows strongest actors and even brought the best out of some of the shows weakest (namely Scott Maslen).
But I think right now perhaps it's the right time to give her rest. That is unless SOC could have brought the best out of her and maybe he still can? Maybe after a few years she'll be back better than ever?

No, as said 2011 it was but by then she had been exhausted to the max, now on reflection as much as I would miss her nostalgic wise, its her time, she another character who is just floating around without any direction and I think its her time to go, whether for good or to rest the character.
Ronnie and Roxy are fantastic characters at their best and will be missed but neither of them have had decent storylines for a while. Roxy's recent drug storyline was dreadful and Ronnie has lost her spark. I hope their exit storyline is well written and that it will be possible for them to come back in the future after a good rest.

I've always thought Samantha Womack was overrated and that Rita Simons has been the better actress for some time now. However, I recognised what a successful character Ronnie was and how popular. Popular enough that people still like her a lot now even though she's a shadow of her old self. Baby swap wrecked her credibility as a character and she's never gotten it back, basically. They tried to swerve into the direction of the skid and make her a villain but it was never credible. She was always an OTT character who had a ridiculous amount of bad things happen to her that made her- for me- difficult to empathise with but she just went beyond it with that storyline. I'm pleased SOC (and probably Sam Womack too from her apathetic performances) has recognised she has reached the end of the road, for all her hugeness as a character. It says good things for him, potentially, he's willing to write out big names if they've run out of gas.
