EE How long have the Cokers lived in Walford?
Scorpio2

Tonight Les said that Coker's has been around for over 100 years and Pam said Walford has been their home for a long time.

Now this leads me to ask prior to 2014 have the Coker's always lived on Albert square but only started appearing recently?

I think the Cokers have been living in the Square for a long time, but we have never seen them

I see a lot of people over the years that were extras who dont speak and they could have been related to Les. And for all we know, they could have been running the business before Les turned up in Walford

Dot is probably old enough to remember Les Cokers father who ran the Undertakers before his son took over and she might have seen his Grandfather as well

Walford is a town a borough even - Albert square is just one small part of it.

So the Cokers may have been in the Pub when Sharon gate happened but just weren't seen?

It is possible

If we check old episodes of Eastenders we might just spot Les and Pam in the corner having a drink

They lived in Spring Lane which is apparently close to Albert Square. Spring Lane market merged with Bridge Street market early in 2014, and Pam and Les moved to the Square when that happened. Les has mentioned a few times being responsible for the funerals of long departed square residents but he wasn't seen in the show prior to 2012.

They lived in Spring Lane before they lived on the square ?

Is spring lane part of Walford ? And if so did it exist before DTC's era?

As mentioned, Les and Pam only moved to Albert Square (business and personal premises) in 2014 but they are meant to have lived in Walford prior to that and we first saw Les when he arranged Pat's funeral and we were told he was a local funeral Director who had been used by the Beale/Fowlers before - specifically Pete's as he mentioned it to David but probably Pauline, Arthurs etc.

I don't find that weird. My family have used the same funeral director for all our funerals in the last 30 years - they are based about a mile away but they are still in the same borough and if they moved into our road now, they wouldn't have just moved to the area. They would just have been in a different road in the area before.

Walford is meant to be a London borough like Walthamstow, Stratford, Bethnal Green. Canning Town. There is a lot more to it than just Albert Square, Victoria Road, George Street which we see.

Yep, they have always been around

Well quite a few of the market stall characters have been. But we only met them for the first time in 2014 when there was that whole market stall saga and they merged together with another market stall people.
