Data Usage on Medion Mobile Phone

I have a Medion mobile phone which is my first smart phone until someone buys me a better one! I have noticed there are data usage charges on my pay as you go account, even when the phone is switched off. I was in hospital last week and the phone was at home, switched off and there was a data usage charge of £1 on there 3 times. Can someone explain to me why that is please and is there anything I can change. I have been on my T-Mobile site which is useless.

You need to take that up with T-Mobile. If you phone was really off then any data transfer is impossible.

By 'off' I take it you mean it was powered down, not just 'standby' with the screen off?

No it was completely turned off, not on standby.

It may also be cheaper on a smart phone to get a different tarriff for your payg sim as sounds expensive data charges.

You can turn data off on the phone, but then it becomes pointless having a smart phone really.

If you want to do that you will probably find the option in:

Settings
Data
Mobile data (turn the switch to off)

Your phone will not work with any data at all now, however will still work on wifi if you have this enabled - which won't use your allowance / credit.
