I loved their jive! I'm so happy they finally got some 10s and got a chance to remind people what they can do!

Guess we'll have to endure the endless Jay comparisons cause you know no jive in Strictly past, present and future will ever live up to that themed jive to an iconic movie score. We all know by now that two of the judges are a stickler for technique while the other two tend to focus on performance. So, it's baffling why some people get so hung up with the judges' individual score which is a subjective opinion when it's the overall mark out of 40 that's significant.
This routine had all the hallmarks of a deserving 'four tens' dance however on the night adrenaline and enthusiasm took over and his technique was slightly off in places. But you only have to watch Danny to see how pumped he was and how much he threw himself into the dance. Danny and Oti must have trained for 40+ hours doing this strenuous high-octance dance in such a short time frame I think heavy legs may have been a contributing factor.
It was a suitable comeback after last week and further illustrates Danny isn't a pro level dancer despite his prior training and his technique can be improved upon also.
A special mention for Oti and her wonderful choreography plus she gave Danny a couple of spotlight moments so he could shine and showcase his abilities. Awesome job all-round.

It seems that the smug/arrogant tag is dissipating as the show goes on, thankfully. I'm pretty sure it was simply how people expected him to be, as a young, good looking make with dance training.
Thankfully he's coming across as a genuinely gentle, kind souls.
Moving on, with the list of which dances they have left getting ever smaller, and Blackpool in just 2 weeks (God, the judges and public vote willing), what do we hope our couple will get for the big stage?

Would love an AS as you describe. Their QS was one of the dances of the series so far for me - can imagine how much buzz a big number could deliver at Blackpool.

If they're lucky enough to get to Blackpool, an AS would be amazing out on that floor. I'm pretty sure they're one of the only couples (along with Claudia and AJ) to always have alternated between ballroom and latin, so I wouldn't mind seeing that changed so they can do ballroom in Blackpool. However, if they do get latin for it, a samba would be pretty great out there (I remember loving Matt Baker's).

What amazing energy...........bloody hell...........leaps, splits, jumps...along with all the fabulous jive technique. Loved the attitude of it. Yes, I think Danny was absolutely smug, cocky and arrogant tonight. Loved it!!!!!!!!!!

Danny is a good looking bloke but that's not why I'm voting for him. I vote based on who dances in the most captivating and exciting way and this year for me Danny and Oti have been exceptional.
I think Jay's Jive was absolutely amazing and the lovely Oti referred to it as being "one of the best dances ever" on her Twitter feed. She also choreographed a swing style jive, which to me was a great because it shows that rather than try to mimic somebody else's wonderful dance, she wanted to take a different approach and make a statement in a different way. I thought team Doti's jive was brilliant.
Both Danny and Oti seem to be relishing the moment and giving their all. Oti is making the choreography super hard and they are putting in very long hours in training. I think this shows how hard they are working to impress the audience.. they are not taking anything for granted and they know that they've got to work hard and that Danny has to be challenged.
I think Danny and Oti have had stand out moments in the Quickstep and Jive (I've loved all of their dances though). I think Danny going first last night and going in middle order when he had the Quickstep has enabled the judges to play down his performances and try to overshadow them. Ore and Louise are both nice, good dancers but they haven't performed better than Danny and Oti. I assume that in the next few weeks they will allow Danny and Oti to take the limelight they both deserve. It does 'get on my wick' a little that the judges overhype other dancers and are harsh on people like Danny and Claudia. I know it's probably done to create drama and entertainment but when Alesha Dixon won she was top of the leaderboard most weeks and Danny should've been top most weeks too. Hopefully it'll work in his favour that they are playing him down.

Great post. BIB - Alesha Dixon was the best celeb in her year from week one so it would have been a travesty if she had not won dancing background or not.
For me it's always the all round package but a big part is the partnership of celeb and pro and Danny & Oti have the best partnership this year.
I'm actually pleased Danny has not been topping the leader board every week and getting 10's as he would have been vilified on these boards which has been bad enough (apart from this thread) and the negative reaction that would have appeared in the press (i.e. DM!) and Danny is a nice guy but ultimately it would affect his fan base and stop people voting for him.

Agree with everything here. BIB...Oti's tweet about her doing off to the Ladies, and finding Danny jumping off tables, ..God she's a hard taskmaster!!

I so agree with this. The "ringah," "smug," "arrogant" accusations would have been unbearable if he'd been getting 10s/topping the leaderboard in the early weeks. He's yet to be top of the leaderboard by himself and he hasn't even been top since Week 3. I adored his QS but I was happy it didn't get 10s because I think that would have made him a target very quickly. Just rewatched the jive and was thinking exactly the same thing. He's absolutely delighted to get the 9 from Craig, but when he gets the 10 from Darcey, he can't believe it. Genuine reaction.
