one of my former pupils (he is in the Vincent and Flavia show) met Oti and Danny tonight - he is a bit Oti fan
That's amazing! To perform in the show with Vincent and Flavia and meet Danny and Oti! Wow!

Today's performance kinda feels like a toss-up situation either it's going to be incredible or a damp squib. There are a number of intangibles like the music, inclusion of lifts and the routine having moments of stillness to compliment the fast intricate footwork. Really not sure what to expect from this one, hopefully things go smoothly and it'll be the standout on the night.

Shame about the music. Hopefully they can overcome it and produce something good.

I'm definitely interested to see if/how they can overcome their music. I thought it was interesting Danny and Oti didn't hide their thoughts on their song choice on ITT. If anyone can handle a poor music choice, it's them, but a good (Strictly) AT relies so much on music, atmosphere, connection and lifts (something they haven't done yet).
I'm keeping my expectations in check but I hope they come out and wow everyone.

ETA Strictly's Instagram has posted a quick shot of Danny and Oti doing Gancho practice. Vicky Gill must have convinced Oti to go with one of the other outfits she mentioned as it's totally different from the sketch we saw on Thursday.

Disappointed by the costumes tonight as preferred original sketches on itt when they were all in black. But hoping to be wowed by the dance. Not keen on song but hoping to be surprised

Hello Danny and Oti fans - I have brought you a little gift.

Your pair have been to see Vincent and Flavia in "The Last Tango" this evening to get inspiration for their AT, and Oti posted this photo on Twitter.

Very wise of them to take AT seriously. Hope there are not too many lifts: Oti is not Flavia.
Can't wait to see tonight's routine on YouTube. Can't vote from here but hope you will give them all the support they deserve.

I think they may struggle with lifts in general considering Oti is same size or taller than danny

Yes, Oti made a comment about the dress being fabulous...............I'm just wondering about this outfit. The skirt part looks almost salsa/charlestonish. Maybe they are not doing any of those typical AT lifts. I'm not sure you could do those with that type of skirt!?

However, all the best Danny and Oti for tonight. I can't vote from here, but maybe somebody could throw a vote in for me??

The outfit would work for them to do lifts like the ones in Mark and Karen's AT (still my favourite AT on Strictly) but nothing too extravagant. As halfnelson said, height is always going to play a role in their lifts anyway.

(I'll make sure to throw a couple of votes their way on your behalf )

Wow! ❤️

Powerful, intense, dramatic. I was gripped from the start.

I loved the interpretation of the song and the story. So much content and technically amazing.

If Louise got 39 this deserved 40.

P.S. GorgeousGeorge I've voted a few times for you. 👍

Fantastic Argentine Tango from Danny and Oti. I hope everything's okay with his dad - he was nearly an emotional wreck after the performance.

I hope his Dad is ok. Bless him he was clearly trying to hold back his emotions. To perform like that despite the circumstances was just amazing. His Dad will be proud.

I thought their AT was excellent. Yes it was fast but they kept the intimacy throughout, and their timing and lifts were incredible. It's rare I disagree with Craig/agree with Len but in this case I do. Also, they're finally top of the leaderboard by themselves!

I hope everything is okay with Danny/his dad (I'm assuming it's either illness or the anniversary of his passing). He looked like he was about to cry, and seemed ready to walk off camera the moment the scores were in. I've done my best to defend him on Twitter where some are hurling abuse at him for pushing Oti away. I thought it was clear he was upset and comfort was going to make it worse.

I loved this AT - the music was an unusual choice, to say the least, and I thought they coped with it magnificently - passionate, dramatic and breathtaking. And I'm beyond thrilled that sofakat has a good opinion of it too - got to respect the views of people who REALLY understand the dance through years of experience

Sad to see Danny upset though From his recent tweet he's obviously faced a difficult dance in a difficult week - bravo young man

Lovely to hear that...........so different from Louise and Kevin's. I suppose that's why they pick the different music. It certainly challenges the pros........or the choreographers!!

I agree you and I'm with Len and Bruno on this one. The intimacy was definitely there and you could feel the intensity from the start. He was top of the leaderboard but to me it was worthy of a 40.

I agree with you. Danny performed an amazing dance in difficult circumstances so kudos to him. I hope his Dad is ok and gets well soon.

Have to take back what I said. No trouble in the lifts. And dance gets better each time I watch it

Just watched Danny's AT on YouTube.
Oh. My. Goodness. I think it is the sharpest AT performance in the SCD history. I was afraid that Oti's long legs might be a problem but I clearly underestimated her... and Danny. They scorched the floor with a routine that was very different from Louise's seductive tango. Hot, hot, hot!

Wow!

As said above loved reading Sofs (expert) positive feedback.
So uncomfortable seeing Danny visibly struggling to hold it together, if, as he said, this has been a difficult week re his dad, he's done brilliantly to cope with such a hard, intense routine on top. Huge kudos to him.
