You know, after watching the strictly panel tonight l can't helping wishing that just for once we could have a panel who were genuinely in Danny's corner. If someone could see his 'journey' and 'niceness', note the amount of work he puts in and the way he has grown in the competition. Instead we generally get sarcasm, petty comments or a general dismissive attitude towards his dances!

It just irritates me a bit as it's like being good is something bad! Maybe it's time that strictly did an internal competition to weed out any celebs who can put one foot in front of the other so the competition would be full of Ed's and Ann Widdicombe's. I would probably lose interest after a few weeks as l really like to see good dance but maybe the general public would prefer that.

Anyway on a more positive note l'm liking what Danny's doing and l'm sure they'll do fine tomorrow though l think they could be in the middle of the leader board as they tend to prefer Louise and Ore's ballroom to his and l think Craig will leave his ten paddle in his dressing room on principle! This could see him in the middle of the leader board and land him in the dance off but he should be safe as l can't see the judges sending him home, fingers crossed!

I totally agree! I don't think there's been a single Friday panel where they've been particularly supportive of Danny or where anyone has said they want him to win. They always either say he's "too good" and want him to be bottom two or are completely indifferent towards his dancing. I know he's an actor and probably tunes it out but it must be really disheartening when he's working so hard and giving this experience his all. I was expecting one of them to talk about his brilliant samba tonight and instead there was just sarcasm and indifference. Is it too much to ask that they find just one celeb who's excited about Danny and Oti and their dancing? They're such a joy to watch but you'd never know that from the Friday panel!

Training looks good but I am going to be ready and armed to vote a lot tomorrow because I can easily see a situation when Danny is in the dance off/eliminated thanks to a "frantic" tango (something Oti cannot possibly control).

I agree with all of this. I can't watch live or vote tomorrow so I really hope lots of others can! As a fan of Pixie's before on SCD I know how it can go horribly wrong. So fingers crossed for Danny and Oti tomorrow. It was particularly annoying on the ITT panel tonight that they all picked Lousie who has as much experience as Danny and yet they were so dismissive of Danny. Yes he's good but he works flipping hard at it. And he's nice and unassuming too. Being a gymnast and a competitor already must be a great advantage for Claudia, being a natural showman who interacts on live tv as himself must be a great help to Ore and they are both areas that Danny has had to work on as well as ballroom and latin which were as new to him as for the others. I have nothing against any of the others but it's like Danny is being picked on for being good.

Anyway I loved Danny and Oti on ITT yesterday and will be keeping my fingers crossed for them tomorrow for another fabulously exciting dance.

I get we all have different favourites and like different things but the constant, unrelenting support shown for Louise on the Friday panel confuses me greatly. If Danny is a ringer then so is she but somehow it's always Danny who gets attacked for having dance experience.

On a more positive note, I'm not watching it but, judging from Twitter, Danny and Oti's samba has just been raved about on Gogglebox.

Wasn't Richard from Pointless on one of the panels? Didn't he say nice things about Danny and Oti? On Twitter, he seems a big fan of Oti's.

I don't watch Hollyoaks but maybe she made assumptions about him based on his character on that - or assumptions about him because he's a handsome soap star who easily could have been arrogant and unlikeable. I didn't know Danny before the launch show but I instantly warmed to him and thought he seemed like a good guy.

I caught Gogglebox on +1 and the section where they watch the samba is highly worth watching. It's the only dance they talk about - it was definitely something special if it's getting this much focus - and everyone is nothing but positive about Danny. Lots of comments how handsome he is and women shooting lustful gazes at their TV screens! One person commented that they weren't even watching Oti because they couldn't take their eyes off him and someone else said "they're in another league, aren't they?" which to me says it all. After the Friday panel, it's nice to have confirmation that other people are seeing what we're seeing!

I hope I won't need to but I am ready to vote a lot if the occasion calls for it (just like I did on Halloween weekend).

I agree with you completely and the above comments. We mentioned this last week as there does need to be a balance on the panel. Gabby Roslin and Richard Osman seem to like Danny, let's get them on the panel.


I've read all of Marian's books and I like her but I don't get the whole slayzee/sleezy comments. It seems like some are judging Danny because he's good looking and they are making incorrect assumptions. He's clearly dedicated to his fiancé, appreciates Oti and is working 13 hour days to ensure he's giving the process his all by not taking anything for granted. He is sweet, very modest and like Oti said he doesn't know how good he is. He has a lot to be big headed about but that just isn't his character. He just comes across as a thoroughly decent bloke.

BIB1 Totally agree the panel was very biased towards Kevin and Louise last night. It is very similar to last year when a lot of the panels were pro Kelly & Kevin, Georgia and Anita as opposed to the eventual winner Jay. ( I am not drawing any comparisons between Danny and Jay (feel all those polls are a bit silly) as they are performing on different years and have different styles and persona)
I firmly believe Danny & Oti are miles ahead in the public vote as apart from Ed & Katya they are the couple that everyone is talking about.
I will be shocked if they are in the dance-off and if they are it would be down to complacency in assuming they are safe. They may end up mid-table due to judges scoring (and IMO bias) but votes should get them through.

BIB2 - I think Marian was referring to Danny character in Hollyoaks - its just her saying, in her own inimitable way, she loves Team DOti

Am expecting a great Team DOti performance and rot see them through to the semi-final - they are 2016 winners - best couple by far

I'm not sure you can talk about panels being biased towards dancers. Is it not fair that they have their favourites? I agree it's disappointing that no one is coming on saying Danny and oti are their favourites. But equally if all three last night had said dannynand Oti were their favourites we would all have loved it. In the long run the opinions of a few celebs won't make any difference anyway. Public will vote for who they like the nost

Thinking about it, you are right. In the grand scheme of things, these panels don't really matter.

I agree you can't call the panellists biased. Of course they have their favourites. I think I feel the bias is more on the production side. They could select panelists who vary in their favourites (or, in the cases of some who clearly don't watch, tell them a variety of celebrities to have as their 'favourite') rather than using the panel to continually promote the same celebrities week after week. No, the panel doesn't actually matter - whether Danny wins or loses, the panel will have nothing to do with it - but it would be nice to hear support for all the contestants.

I agree with this - obviously the panellists will have their own favourites - I believe (purely IMO) there is bias on the production side of SCD
Anyway I trust the public (who have the experience of watching 14 series of SCD and have acquired a lot of dance knowledge as a result) will vote for the best couple over the whole series this year.
Good Luck to Danny & Oti tonight - looking forward to seeing their Tango - they have certainly been challenged by a very fast & not typical tango song - I trust they will rise to that challenge

I agree with you completely. I think halfnelson2709 is right that the celeb panellists can favour who they like and are entitled to their opinion. But I think the production team want it to seem like an open competition... they probably don't want Danny to top the scoreboard and then top the panellists favourites list. I'd just like to see the production team select panellists who have different favourites. That's probably just down to my nerves though as I want Danny and Oti to be getting the support they deserve, so a balanced panel would probably reassure me a little, lol. Heaven knows how I'll hold my nerve over the next two weeks. 😉😊🙏

Oti has retweeted a Gogglebox clip and there is a repeat of the episode on Channel 4 tomorrow night at 10.00pm.

Looking forward to tonight and just hope they don't end up middle of the leader board, but it's one fast Tango they are dancing! I'll be casting my 12 online votes and possibly some phone votes tonight if they don't finish at least 2nd on the leader board!
